SOURCE: Brown spots coming from steam iron

you can mix 50% water with 50% vinager let it set in the iron overnight then turn it on and let the steam run out. What happens is the inside of the iron where the water is had corroded or rusted or has lime deposits.the vinager will break this loose overnight.also after you let the iron steam out all the mixture, flush the iron 4 to 5 times and start using fresh water from a store bought gallon.your tap water is probably full of iron.

SOURCE: Brown spots coming from steam iron

Fill with 50/50 water vinegar solution. Get it good and hot and let it sit for two hours. Rinse and repeat if necessary. Buy a gallon of water from the market and use that from now on. This will fix your problem. The Iron is concentrating the iron in you water and this is what is causing the brown spots. Hope you find this helpful. If you do please take the time to rate it fixya and maybe I will keep helping people for free.

SOURCE: Rowenta Steam Iron Leak

I have purchased two Rowenta irons. Both have the problem with water leakage. The entire iron looses all of it's water....both in the stand up position and the sitting down position. This happened after a couple of months for both items. I contacted Rowenta and they never responded. I will never purchase another item from them. Obviously, the irons must be defective. I'm going to contact consumer affairs.

I've had the same problem with two Rowenta irons. When set to a lower temperature, the iron has a bad habit of leaking water when the steam option is on. I have to either turn up the temperature setting or shut off the steam option.

WHen cold tilt over sink and empty and rince every 3-5 uses depending on how much you use it. Water sitting in the tank gets moldy and bad, rinse tank and use Britta type filtered water only.

I have a rowenta iron that leaks a lot of water

Here's a solution . . . Do NOT buy ROWENTA! I've had 3 Rowenta irons. All of them have eventually began to dump water out of the base. . . heck, the Titanic didn't leak as much as a Rowenta iron!

Soak the nozzle in white vinegar for 10-15 minutes. Dip it into plain water to rinse the vinegar out. The deposits in the nozzles will be melted away.

How do I clean a rowenta DX8800 iron that leaves deposits on my garments

Use a white vinegar and distilled water solution in the iron, but don't do any clothes with it. Let it soak for a while, then heat the iron and let it blow out any debris. Fill again with distilled water, shake well, and let it steam out. Do this again until there is no vinegar smell coming out. If you use only distilled water, you should have no further problems like this.

At high temp settings water leaks out of steam holes in bottom

You want to run the self-clean mode. Fill with water, then over a sink, with the iron facing down, press the self-clean button. Steam will eject, along with sediment and water deposits. You may have to repeat numerous times. The iron requires soft water, if you don't have soft water at the tap then buy bottled water at the grocery store to prevent this problem.

You can also buy a cleaning solution that you mix into the water reservoir, or you can make your own by filling the iron half-full of water then add white vinegar to the fill line, then perform the self-clean mode or steam mode over a sink.

Here is a Rowenta suggestions:

The iron is leaking.

Water: Use tap water in the iron. If tap water is hard or high in organic matter, we recommend using bottled spring water or mix tap water with distilled. Do NOT use 100% distilled water. Many softening systems may cause issues as well.
Auto-Off: If iron is equipped with auto off, you need to move iron or gently shake it an allow it to heat back up before beginning to iron.
Overuse of Burst of Steam: Allow more time between each burst of steam.

The Rowenta site does not list a manual for your older model, but here is their link:
