Can you turn the squire cage by hand?
If there's no obstruction holding the motor most likely the capacitor has gone bad.
You can check it with a multimeter.
Please let me know if you need further assistance and if this fix your problem. Thanks

On my electric stove, one of the burner caught on fire, and now the indicator light stays on even after the stove is turned off

If the light remains on, that would indicate the circuit was damaged. The light goes on when the circuit is complete. This usually happens when the burner gets hot. If it caught fire, then the stove is registering it as hot all the time.

My Ruud achhiever 90 starts to fire but as soon as the blower fires the burner goew out. I also noticed that the "igniter" on the end isnt firing. Could that cause the burner to not stay lit when the

There is an ignitor and a flame sensor. If the ignitor does not ignite the gas after a time, it goes out. If the flame sensor does not detect ignition the gas valve closes. When you start it you should see the ignitor come on like a light bulb and glow, then the gas valve opens and you get ignition. Then the flame detector turns on when the ignitor goes out. Flame detectors are like a chrome wire that has one connection to it and it sits part of the way in a burner. They get dirty and corroded. When that happens it shuts down. You can clean the flame detector with steel wool of scotch brite pads. Dont get too carried away doing that though.

I can see my ignitor light up but it does not fire. About every third load it will fire and it dries a load just fine. But then it doesnt fire the next time.

@Mike,
I've been where you are and it can be frustrating! What you described, for lack of a better phrase, is an 'ignitor dying a slow death.' Within each heating unit (aka. ignitor) there is a tiny thermostat that tells the device WHEN to fire and how often. Your trouble can be fixed by replacing the part. If you supply your machine make and model number we can help point you to a replacement part which you can get online.
Thanks, Chris I.

Miller gas furnace not firing but the fan turns on

The Miller furnaces sometimes will do that. Does this have surface ignitor that glows. Kill power to furnace for few seconds and turn it back on. See if it will go thri the cycle and see if coil glows. If not chances are coil is bad. Need to call service tech for free estimate. Rus

Panel displays F6; continues to hum. Will not re-set after unplugging..display continues to show F6.

F6 is a shorted cook relay on the control board.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and please do not leave it running unattended.

We regularly repair such control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so with a one-year guarantee.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Hello. I have an old Roper oven, model no.

The ignitor draws amperage thru gas valve which opens the bimetal valve to release the gas.Round ignitor 2.75 amps. Rect. 3.5 amps.Bottom line if burner dont fire within 60 seconds of turning orange you have a weak/bad ignitor.Hope this helps. Please rate my response :)

Won't stay lit

You ignitor is working and sensor is working because it will fire up. so those pesky coils are intermittant because they get hot and quit cool off and work some more . replace them

Lighting pilot of GE gas stove

According to the model number you supplied it looks like your oven use a glow bar ignitor not a pilot light. In that case there is no place to hold a fire. what happens with these when you turn the oven on 120 volts goes to the ignitor causing it to heat up ,the amp draw across the ignitor causes the gas safety valve to open, and then lights the gas. So if you turn your oven on you should see a bright red glow if not probably the the ignitor, to check it you would have to verify you actually have power going to it. If the ignitor glows but the gas valve does not open you will still need to replace the ignitor has to pull about 3.2 amps across ignitor to open safety valve. Your broil burner works the same way. And most of the ovens the floor of the oven comes out to allow easier acess to the ignitor. also if you have to change the ignitor put just a dab of dish detergent on the screws to help from stripping them
