Regular drive mode will not shift gears, mechanic states that it is stuck in 4 wheel drive mode...how to get it unstuck or do I need to take it to the transmission place?
SOURCE: transmission doesn't stay in one gear
possible faults - *check the shifting cable selector is aligned with the neutral starting switch * check engine mounts *make sure the fluid level is between the marks on the dipstick running hot * overdrive friction and drive plates have worn out * the torque converter or oil pump has a problem *do a torque converter stall test hope you used only mitsubishi automatic oil when changed *check the throttle position sensor * temp sensor for the auto the TCU has faults or needs to be replaced

I also have a 2009 Outlander Sportronic transmission with a V6 engine.
Bought it this summer ... transmission appeared fine but seemed to automatically slow down the vehicle using the engines compression whenever I let go of the gas pedal.
Now that the cold weather is upon us here in Canada, whenever I accelarate normally (not like a teenager) the transmission takes quite a bit of time to shift into second... If I rev up the engine (quick take off) it seems to help but the shifting of gears is not as smooth as I would expect it (mildly slips and kicks into second)...
The worst is when come to a complete stop ... then the transmission kicks coming down from the higher gears???
I read somewhere that this is because this transmission is a CVT type and is learning my driving habits in order to adjust itself so the vehicle becomes more fuel efficient... Not sure but if the trany is computer controlled then it must be poorly writen program...
I'm taking the car in to the dealer and will write back on the diagnostic they give me ...
SOURCE: THE 4 X 4 GEAR STICK IS STUCK
May be the 4 wheel drive is stuck you have to grease the actuator on the front axle use water proof grease pull back the corrgated boot to do this.
Next go to some relly wetmud stick it in 4 wd drive with the dif lock out and rock it back and forward 20meters each way.
Next disconect the battery put into low and reconnect the battery now put in nuteral and bring it one notch at a time reset mode.
Now try getting underneath with the battery disconected and pull off and clean with something that dosent eat rubber the 3 connectors colour coordinated inside and grouped together they control the transfer box.
Next you need a new actuator switch at £ 375 + VAT plus fitting.
I think the last option is likely.

SOURCE: automatic transmission is stuck in 2nd gear (limp mode)
it is eletical eather a fuse is blown or the speed sensor didnt get hooked up dose spedo work
SOURCE: irritable noise from the right
Impossible to diagnose without hearing the sound. But start by getting a new mechanic.
