Question about Canon MX882 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I cleaned and soaked the print head, cleaned contacts, turned off and unplugged for hours. Eventually got it to work for a few days, but now I'm getting the error again. I also refilled and cleaned the ink cartridges. It is the original print head that came with the printer. This happened before, and I cleaned/soaked the print head, then it worked for months. Is there anything else I can do before replacing it? Does anyone actually know what is going on inside the machine? I assume there may be a reset/override code I can enter into the printer, because this is the right print head. Thanks a lot.
The print head electronics are failing, you may get a little more life out of it but I'm sorry to say that nine times out of ten the printhead will need replacement.
the part # is QY6-0080
10% of the time the printhead and logic board will both be faulty and require replacement AT THE SAME TIME, a faulty board can trash a good head and a faulty head has been known to trash a good logic board.
you will need at least 40% ink in each of your cartridges to prime the new printhead

SOURCE: Canon MP500 Printer head error
Print heads for nearly all printers are rated at 2 years. You may also need to clean the tube from the resevoir at the ink supply to the cartridge and clean the working resevoir on the cartridge as well. If you are up to this challenge there is a how-to at your manufacturer's web site or you can have a tech do it. Most people, when they realize how inky you will be getting choose to have a tech do this.
It is best to use 100% denatured alcohol, from your hardware store, to clean these parts and tubing. But, you must take precautions.
DO NOT USE DENATURED ALCOHOL UNLESS YOU READ AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON THE BACK OF THE CAN.
I'm not kidding about the precautions. I do all this stuff outside when there is a breeze in the air and then I stay up wind of my work.

Hi I have U051, and U052 coming up, I did what it said to do press ok if that doesn't work turn it off, now it is continuously going to these problems. What do I do.

you have a purge unit problem, cost more than the printer is worth unless it is under warranty,

you wont like what you find. lol .
apparently if you call cannon support they going to tell you its a U052 is a temperature sensor error. and not the print head error. someone musta did some bad programming. lol
try returning the cartridge if its not a canon specific cartridge - and get replacement - try that - but i doubt its going to work - i would call about a new one (print head that is - they will also apparently send you a new print head.) as i have read up on
hope this helped x404x
