Piranha 1. I want to mount it on a pontoon boat. Do I need a bracket for the transducer?

Yes, there should be a small rectangular mounting plate on the rear of one of your pontoons.
Mount your transducer on that plate. If you don't have a bracket you can order them from humminbird.
If you need it you can download a PDF file on transducer installation from the hummingbird website.

How to install MHX HS

It is my understanding that Hummingbird MHX HS is a transom mount kit. So it will depend on what you are mounting. It is likely the mount instructions are available with the transom transducer you are going to mount. Please drop a comment to clarify.

Installing transducer

I assume you're talking about a transom mount transducer. Best if the leading edge of the transducer is even/level with the hull and tilts slightly down in the back or trailing edge of the transducer. Also try to eliminate a gap between the leading edge of the transducer and the hull.

I have a Hummingbird 535 that I left on for about two weeks while parked in my garage. Now when I try to use it the depth shows but it vaselates by huge numbers. Is this a problem with the transducer or...

It all depends. It very well be either the transducer or the unit. Best thing to do is send both the transducer and the unit in for service. The 800 number is 800-633-1468.

Thanks

Hummingbird Fishfinder model 535

The Depth & temp come from two different sensors. Check your coax cable to the transducer (the lager oval piece), the connector, and the transducer for cracks /breaks in insulation. Good luck.
