What is the reason for high voltage fuse to blow outon microwave.

The only reason for any fuse to "blow" open is a direct short. The most common reason, in a microwave oven, is the Magnetron. This is the device that generates the microwaves. If this is the case, repair is not very economical.
If you have a volt meter or a device that can check for resistance, check for anything that is shorted or "0" Ohms to ground.
I hope that his helps answer your question.
If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.

inside your micro... walls are made of metal but protected with paint, if this paint is gone and the metal shows thats what happend you have to repaint the unprotected areas again, and the reason your micro... is not working so good anymore is due to the magnetron

The microwave unit in my Thermodore CMT231 has abruptly stopped working. I suspect a fuse may have blown. Is this self-serviceable? I am pretty much a novice.

When you say it stopped working , you mean no lights or display etc. Then that can be a fuse but fuses blow for a reason. Find the reason if the fuse blew.

Microwave will not heat

Some common reasons:

If turntable does not move at all--a safety switch where the door opens may cause this.

Other primary reasons are:

Bad Diode most units use or the large Filter cap some use.

Bad inverter which powers the Magnetron that does the heating and connect to each other.

A bad magnetron in the unit.

Daewoo over the range microwave model KOT-21OUB just stopped working for no apparent reason. Lights and fans still work. Not heating food. Worked for one dish then the next nothing.

how old is the machine, microwave ovens have a tendancy to do the ridiculous for no possible reason. a check of the main power fuse within the unit might help. it is a large fuse 10A> that supplies the transformers

During heating, my microwave stop for unknown reason

Contacts to the door switch, are the most common reason for this problem.

The diode and capacitors can also be tested. The capacitor must be allowed discharge before testing, or you risk to get electrocuted, even if power is off. Capacitors can get discharged by shorting their two contacts.
Replace the magnetron if the checks and all of the high voltage component tests are good, but the unit still does not heat.

All locations, and description of this parts can be located using the diagram here: Counter top.

Parts must be tested to find out what is wrong.

Remember that microwaves are potentially dangerous devices if not repaired properly, the job must be done by a competent person.
A microwave energy leakage test must always be performed when the oven is serviced for any reason.

Regarding parts, contact the seller here to purchase parts. (here in UK).
