I have a massey freguson 265. when I go down a hill it speeds up and I have to speed the throttle back, and if I go up hill I have to push the throttle up. Why do I have to constantly adjust the engine speed by moving the throttle back and forth on uneven terrain. Why does it not adjust itself?

2008 yardman lawn mower 13.5 hp. has a high idle speed and does not slow down, need diagram for throttle control

Throttle cable should pull a SPRING, which pulls the governor, which pushes/pulls the carburetor butterfly valve.

Why does my 2003 pontiac grand prix maintain speed on flat surface when cruise is not turned on?

Sounds dangerous and hard on breaks. I\'d catty with the throstle linkage under the hood. It should twist open with a bit of pressure, than snap shut when you let go. Yours won\'t. The return spring is worn, stretched out, or most likely gone missing or fell out. Find it and hook it up. Or any spring with the power to pull it back to a closed position. Must be hard to restart the car after it\'s warmed up too.

A/C shuts off going up hill an turns back on going down hill

most cars the A/C compressor will cut off for a few moments when you push on gas for more speed or power then it comes back on. but the fan motor inside the car should still work.

My B&S engine suddenly runs at full throttle and the throttle lever has no effect ?

Sounds like you have a governor problem it governs the speed of the engine..it " governs " calls for more engine speed for hills, heavy grass etc. then back it off when not needed. Sounds like.it is calling for speed but isn't backing off,, most likely dirty..try using carb and linkage cleaner spray and spray the entire throttle and governor area thoroughly. Them some lubricant like WD40 or such ..and operate the handle back and forth to get the the linkage loosened...if this doesn't clear it up professional service is needed..good luck.

Losing power going up hills

sounds pretty normal. what speed do you try out the passing gear? anything above 35-45 mph and it will feel like neutral. Passing gear is actually only 1st gear. When you press down the pedal, it forces the transmisson to shift into low gear.

My cruise control on my 2002 Xterra works fine until going up hill (not just big ones, any hill that makes the speed drop). It increases engine RPMs to maintain set speed(usually about 3.5K), however, once...

Are you aware what transmission your Xtera has ? In some cases this may be considered normal pending make model and options . The revs going up down hill could be a form of engine breaking regulated by the transmisson control module in an automatic. Now if you have a manual transmission this is definately an issue.

I have a 1999 jeep cherokee that has intermitant transmission problems 1)shifting up it wind out to 2k-3k before shifting 2) at higher speed it feels as if it slips out of overdrive rpm increase but speed...

It will shift out of overdrive upon increasing throttle , pulling hills and so on. Your overdrive probably kicks in around 35 to 45mph and kicks back out as you increase throttle. Electrically controled speed sensor to control the response. Overwise the engine would bog down to a stall. Over drive is just that. It changes the gearing ratio to over drive meaning less then final gear 4 to 1 down to 4 to 3 etc more direct drive ratio to lessen consumtion of fuel with less stress on engine. Have shift speed sensor adjusted. Don't drive in overdrive in city if most driving is under 45mph

Speed

bike's speed goes down drastically.Even though I am on the speed of 50 to 60 in 4rth gear this happenes that the moment I leave the accelaratorbike retards. Is it sth with gear system?Yep thats engine braking for you. Try the same with clutch in and you should experience no retardation. No you can't nullify it, all engines have it and its nothing to do with fuel quality. When you take your hand of the throttle the engine stops sucking in fuel but the cylinders keep going up and down and compressing the air inside them. This takes work and hence slows you down. In any case your looking at it all wrong, its a good thing not a bad thing. It helps you to control your speed going down hills and stops your brakes from wearing out so quickly. The higher the gear your in the less engine braking you will have, but applying bursts of throttle and then trying to coast is still not a good way to ride. Just use the throttle to control your speed, thats what its there for.,,,
