USB port on the backside of the Garmin Nuvi 265WT GPS broken. Can someone repair/replace the port?

The cost of repairs will be more than the cost of a new unit. A special tool is needed to open the unit to depress the multiple spring pressure locks all at the same time.

Navman is stuck on usb screen

This is caused by the battery charger and USB combo connector port being damaged (bent pin), you will need to either have the connector in the GPS replaced or replace the GPS.

To connect gps to computer wich pins do i connect of nmea cable?

pins 2(-) and 5(+) on a 9 pin serial cable, then you need a usb to serial adapter for input into the computer if you do not have a built in 9 pin serial port on you computer because the usb moves the information faster than the gps signal. gps is roughly 4800 baud, usb is moving so much faster you need a buffer

I have two magella 4040's I was using themin a semi with them stuck to the windshield the solder joint on the charging port is weak, The 1st one had a 180 degree jack , straight out, the second one...

Re soldering the port is ok if the port it self is not damaged..they have A centering pin on the bottom and once they come loose for what ever reason, They shear that pin off, then theres Not much to keep them from moving again Because that pin on the originals Always break off. I also use a little hot glue To keep help keep it put Just As a precaution. The ones I sell, I haven't had any returned yet neither the ones I fixed or The ones the people put the port on themselves, I have however had to guys wanting me to fix there 4040 because they ripped the tracers off the board. (now there junk) I cant repair anything that has the tracers damaged, If I get one like that, I do not even try to fix it, because its beyond My capabilities. To answer your question I do sell the ports for 14.99 on ebay 12.99 off ebay shipping included And yes I do repair them but not if the tracers are damaged. I normally charge 45.00 to repair them and I pay the ship back but if you want me to do both of them And your going to pay shipping both ways. Ill do both for 80.00 I'm not trying to talk you out of anything but if you can solder half decent, I'm sure these would hold up for you, the hardest part is removing the old port without damaging the tracers

have you checked to make sure that your serial port is enabled in your computer bios.

to check:

some computers require you to press del while booting other esc.

the message should read somthing in the line

press ???? to enter setup

go to the advanced tab

look in IO (Input/Output) devices or somthing similar.

Make sure Com1 or UART is enabled.

If the device is enabled, then check to make sure that your cable is making a connection properly.

(May require you to open up the unit) if out of warantee

To check that the cable is connected properly on the outside contact to db9 port.

Pin 1 2 5 are used on the db 9

on the inside there is a cable with 4 wires soldered to a board which links the outside to the inside.

Connect your serial cable to the GPS, using a multimeter check continuity by holding red lead on pin 1 of db9 serial port and checking each pin for continuity. only 1 should indicate continuity, continue with pin 2 and pin5 on serial port connector.

If you are sure that there is connection between cable and GPS, check the cable from the soldered points to the GPS Board. If those are ok, then you may have a problem on the board. Would then sugest you take it in for checking.
