Does the tv have audio outputs on it? If so connect the outputs from tv to the audio/video on receiver. But keep in mind that if the audio soundboard is out in tv then this may not work. Hope this helps. Also check settings in tv and make sure the volume is not disabled.

Your tv should have an output on the back should be red and white plug. And the stereo should have an input plug red and white. On the back of the stereo you will have different options like DVD or TV doesn't matter which one you use as long as it's for input . Which ever one you use that's what you would press on the stereo to get your sound .

Is your Panasonic set to monitor the HDMI input? Just like selecting a mode input on the Tv you must also select the mode input on the surround system.

I have a LG LHB335 Blu-Ray home theater system, & a LG TV I can get Full surround sound when the blu-ray is play a DVD but not when just watching Reg TV. I use a HDMI, should I hook up sonething else ?...

LG documentation states:

When you use SIMPLINK function, you have to

connect to the OPTICAL IN 1 jack to enjoy TV
sound to your speaker system.

Basically you need to have the Audio go from TV to receiver and setup receiver to that Input to output surround sound to all speakers.

If you have a cable box or satellite receiver, hook that output into the receivers input and that should work.

My setup is DirectTv HDMI output goes into the LG Home Theater HDMI Input 1, and LG goes HDMI output into the TV HDMI input 1.
so to watch DirectTV, I switch LG Home theater to HDMI Input 1. and TV is on HDMI input 1 (to view LG HDMI output from DriectTV, Blu-Ray, Vudu, etc.)

Compatibility fo TV and Sound system

TV has audio outputs, the RCA cable type. If you connect the audio output (red, white) from the TV(look on the back), and connect the RCA cable to Input of home theater system, you should get TV sound from home theater system. You may have to set the audio on the TV for external source. Go to menu, to audio setup, to options. On the Home Theater system, you may have to select the audio source, i.e. audio input 1, etc.

Sony Model DAV ? SB 500W Home Theatre System

Please check at rear of TV for Digital Optical IN port as home theater should have optical out port at rear. If you got any optical in port in TV, just connect optical wire between TV and home theater.

2nd option is check Line Out pins at rear of home theater system, if found, hook red-white RCA cable there and put it to same input in TV where you hooked Video (composite or component) cable.

Let me know the results to help you more.

Hook a digital optic cable from the Tv's digital ouput to the Recievers digital sound in. This should fix it. You might have to switch the input of the reciever.
