go google and type in --- workshop manual for ( make and model of machine) --- and there will be free pdf version down loads that will point you in the right direction
repeat the procedure but change the initial words to user manual and that down load will tell you how to use the machine
only pick sites that have a direct connection to the make of machine or sites that you see as quality sites
I Have had many machines that I service myself, the Bernina Decco 600 is a very simple machine to service, if your machine is running great it does not need a service, the lower mechanisum is only a bobbin area and nothing much goes wrong down there, apart from cleaning the dust and lint out there is also an adjusting screw if the timing goes out, never put oil on the top moving shafts as they tend to slip and can cause your machine to push out the timing, this machine takes all .pes format design cards, the same as brother, and there is nothing wrong with brother machines, they are very user friendly.
go to this site. it is the singer sewing machine company. they have the instruction manual for your 324 featherweight Plus - they charge $15 for the manual.
Probably nothing serious. I suspect it is incorrectly threaded. Check the needle is in right and rethread top and bottom according to the manual. There are some good youtube videos showing this if you do a search there.
