At this point you have nothing to lose by trying the alcohol trick. Put it in a shallow dish, cover it with rubbing alcohol. Once its fully covered, remove it and let it sit for 15 minutes. Get rid of the alcohol. Then try turn it on. If there is any residual water trapped inside when the alcohol evaporates it will take the water out with it. Be careful, alcohol is very flammable so make sure there are no open flames or possible sparks around when you do this, its better to do it outside. You can try it, but do it at your peril!

To be fixed you need to find out what specific part is water damaged -- so many things inside the phone can be compromised that it can cost more to fix than to buy a new one -- even if you can find someone that is able to fix it. Apple would just replace it and scrap for parts

Fixed is most probably the wrong word, saved is a better statement. If a phone ihas been water damaged the first thing to do is to turn it OFF then put it in a bag of rice for 48 hours. After 48 hours remove the phone from the rice and turn it on, it will either work or not work, you have done all you can.

Iphone 4 keeps turning on and off and it wont allow me to turn the wifi on and my carrier isnt showing up. it says "seaching.."

This usually means there could be a few things going on:
1. Your SIM card could have gone bad (this is what tells your cell service you have a plan with them.
2. It would be a part on the phone itself near the SIM tray that isn't allowing it to see the SIM card.
3. It could be related to physical/liquid damage on the phone.
4. It could be a software issue that can be fixed after a complete re-format (erase everything on your phone)

I would suggest backing up your phone to your computer by plugging it in to itunes and taking it to your nearest apple store as they have the proper tools to test each of the possible problems. I would not visit your carrier unless they prove none of the above are causing the problem. Then you can ask for a new SIM card from your carrier which they should be able to fix for you.

My 2 year old sister threw my kyocera X-tc phone in the pool 3 days ago. The first thing I did was dry it off and take the battery out, I dried the battery and the phone again, and put the battery in. I...

Hello, There is still water inside the phone that's why some part are still working and some not working yet.

What to do is this,

Unscrew the phone,
Get a Methylated spirit and a brush,
Bring out the board of the phone and use the methylated spirit to brush off remaining water on phone.
Keep under heat to dry off,
After board is dried, fix it back and screw back phone.

Am sure after doing this phone will work well.
But if phone still doesn't work ,that means water has damage some component inside the phone.
You will need to consult a phone technician for assistance.
Take care.

Water damaged and it works but for some reason it keeps turning off, is there a way to fix water damage?

Hello my friend,if the board and chips are oxidized now there is nothing you can do anymore. You should immediately open your mobile unplug everything and try to dry everything with a hairdressers gun and leave the battery and the Sim card out for some hours when you drop it into the water.

Key board of my Samsung cell phone is not working

Yes Rogers is most likely right as that does sound very much like water damage. There isnt much you can do as water damage repair involves expensive equipment. Your best bet is to send it off for repair. If you google cell phone repair there will be many eager merchants to help you. Also fixya does provide a vast directory of repair specialists found here.

good luck :)

My xpress nokia 5520 has been affected by corrosion. - nokia center said to us that it can no longer fix? is that true?

It depends on how badly water damaged the phone is... Nokia dont repair handsets they think are water damaged at all, so they probably just looked at it and didnt even try...

Try taking it to an independant store that offers Phone Repairs, they shouldnt charge you unless they are able to repair the problem.

The biggest issue with water damage though is you could repair the phone, think its working and then find that something else isnt working, like it doesnt ring, etc...

If you want to do it yourself, you should be able to get a dissassembly guide and the relevant tools online, however it is a fidly phone and you could end up damaging other components.
