SOURCE: Won't Charge
I have the same problem, however; I managed to open the mp3 player and find out that one of the led solders that holds down the Earphone Jack/USB (top view hole), is cracked and therefore, does not make contact with the electronic board. If you hold down the jack/USB jack towards one side (right) the device will turn on and if it’s connected to your PC, the PC will detect the device. If this is your problem, you have two choices, take it back to the store or fix it yourself. My advice for you it to get your money back unless you really, really, love your device then exchange it but, the problem will be there again at a later time because there is only one led holding the input jack at a very weak point.
RCA needs to secure the USB/JACK very firm into the electronic board. If they add two more led solder to the jack that will do the trick.
To open the RCE Apal Flash mp3 player, place your RCA mp3 player with the screen facing down and with your nail between the two layer, ( in the crack) press in and little bit down. Repeat the same process all around the device with careful.
don't break it!
good luck.

I had the same problem for weeks. Very frustrating. Try the following as it brought my pocket dj back to life. I found that (while plugged into an AC adapter) by inserting a paper clip in the hole on the bottom (reset button) and holding it there for 5 secs it would power cycle the dj then the charging icon would appear in the top left corner, however it did go away after 5 icon flashes. I did this repeatedly. I noticed that every time I pwr cycled it , I got more icon flashes and it would charge for a bit longer. Finally it charged completely. Weird but this is what worked for my player.

SOURCE: Zune won't turn on or charge
ok what you might try doing is what i tried and for some odd reason if you turn on a Nintendo Wii or PlayStation 2 or 3 or even a Xbox 360 and plugging your zune in will charge it and bring it back to life i done this with mine before i upgraded to a frigging awesome 120 GB
Without further explanation, pictures or details of what you tried, it's hard to tell what exactly is wrong with your Nook. However, assuming that the battery is still good you will need to "reboot" your Nook.
Unlike other tablets, there is no reset button, but you can try this.
While pressing the Nook button (upside down u on the front of the tablet), press the power button on the side. You will need to hold it for couple of seconds.
