Question about Refrigerators
My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.
The error code that you are getting indicates there is a communication error between your main control board & your display board.
It is necessary to check the wiring connections at each of these boards. Over time opening and closing the doors may have loosen a connection. Needless to say you should unplug your unit.
If all of the connects are good. Then the highest probability is to change the display board. The second highest probability is your main control board.
You may have shorted out your main control board when you installed it. Electronic boards are easily shorted out by static electricity, magnets and power supply lines creating a magnetic field.
The control board you received was in a silver anti-static bag. If you did not ground your self by rubbing your hands on something that is steel.
Lets assume your main control board is not shorted out and that you have checked for loose connections. The you need to change your display board.
Unplugging and re-plugging your refrigerator back in is a good way to reboot your control panels, however, if the is a higher utility company voltage supply at this time you may knock out your boards.
In your owners manual, you will see the manufacturer recommends the use of a surge protector. The slightest change of supply voltage will knock out your boards. All appliances with control boards should have a surge protector just like your computer. You can purchase a single wall socket surge protector from your local Lowe's or Home Depot for about $15.00-$20.00.
It is well worth the investment and will save you money in the long run.

I appreciate your post, Carol!
Based off the information you have provided your Frigidaire refrigerator is displaying an error code of "SY CE" and the lights are not working. A "SY CE" error code stands for a communication error at start up. This might be a miscommunication within your refrigerator and I would recommend performing a reset in order to correct the issue. To reset your refrigerator you need to disconnect power from it for roughly ten minutes. If this does not help correct your issue you may need to change your control panel or a wiring harness. In order to properly diagnosis your refrigerator you may need to disassemble it and I would suggest having a professional technician out to do so. This will help you avoid any unnecessary part purchases or personal injury. -Matt

Thank you for your post, Carol!
I understand that your Frigidaire refrigerator is displaying an error code of "5Y CE". However it appears that "5Y CE" is an invalid error code. I have noticed the code of "SY CE" and that means there is a communication error at power up. I would recommend performing a reset on your refrigerator and you can do that by unplugging the power cord for at least ten minutes. If that does not correct your issue it could be possible that there is an issue with your main control board, wiring harness, or user interface board. I would then suggest having a professional technician out to perform a proper diagnosis and repair. This will help you avoid any unnecessary part purchases. Hopefully this is helpful. -Matt
