Question about Beko Washing Machines
I accidentally started the hand wash program. I wanted a short program but didn't realise that it would just sit there. Want it to actually rotate and wash. Was able to stop machine and open door but when I started again it insisted on finishing this program and would not let me choose a more a appropriate program.
Go to stop or a program that ir a reset mode. Cheak the make and model and look in you manual that came with the machine. Normally there is a stop mode.

Testimonial: "Not helpful. I had no problem stopping the machine or even opening the door. But when I tried to start it again it would not let me choose another program and start again. It wouldn't even let me simply empty the machine and do a spin cycle. It gave me no option but to complete the program. In this case it was simply annoying as the clothes were not getting a proper washing so had to be done again. But had I chosen a program that was damaging my only option would be to take the wet clothes out of the machine - let the program finish while complete empty and then reload and do another program. This makes no sense. It could well have been a 2 hour program, wasting water and electricity for nothing. There should be a way to cancel a program that is in progress. Thank you for any advice you can give."

E40 is a door interlock fault, it is either faulty or the wiring between it and the main board is at fault,
Only way to open door is to remove top cover, and try to force the door open from the inside, if you can see the door latch, try pushing it with a screw driver or something to release it, worst case scenario, is you will have to break the lock to release the door.
Please rate my fixya solution.

what cycle does it happen in?close the lid and open it a few times, does it make a clicking sound,if it does i would say the switch is good, also you can do this, next time it happens open the lid carefully without banging the machine so you don't disturb anything, get a screw driver and stick it in the hole and see if it runs, if it does i'd say it's the switch, but i've seen this before right before it goes into the spin cycles, the clutch doesn't fall in the tranny. and when the lid is opened and closed the clutch falls.keep an eye on it and see where on the timer this happens, make a mark and see if it does it in the same spot, depending on how hard you close the lid it could be the switch, the timer sticking,i've tapped the timer when something like this happens and it sometimes starts or the clutch in the tranny, when you close the lid did you ever notice if you heard a clunking sound and then it starts to spin..also if you open the top console, unplug the lid switch and stick a jumper wire in the two outside holes of the part you unplug, the lid switch is closest to the right side clip and it's a white connector, you can bypass the switch to check it, all it is is a safety so the machine won't run with the lid open or instead of doing that you can stick a screw driver into the hole and let the machine run like that if you think it's the switch, let me know what you find.
