Many radios are hooked up with only a battery feed, however I don't like this as it means you must remember to turn off the radio when turning off car to prevent draining battery. Use a test light at fuse bax to find a fuse which is only hot when ignition is on and hook radio up there. Some radios have two feed wires, one to battery to hold station settings, and one which actually powers the radio which should go to a fuse only hot when ignition is on.

I lost the battery connection while connecting new radio and cant find battery wire

I would like to help you, but I am at a small disadvantage here....
You lost WHAT battery connection? WHAT battery wire are you looking for? Do you mean the Keep Alive Memory (KAM) and the ignition (IGN) battery feed at the radio harness connector? Do you think you may have "lost" the battery feed due to blowing a fuse during trying to wire the new radio?

On my 2006 F-150 everytime I go to restart the engine radio resets and tach acts like it is stuck. Any idea's?

Check the connections on your battery terminals. A bad or loose connection will make your radio reset each time you start your vehicle. Other places you might look are hot wires leading to your fuse box, if you have an after-marked radio installed. In some situations, the hot lead going to your fuse box may be shorting out. If your tach is stuck, you have crossed wires under your dash, also a case that will happen if you have an after-market stereo installed.

This is normally due to the permanent battery feed to your radio is missing . Check the wiring and connectorsand fuses

Note: The main battery feed is via the Ignition Switch but the permanent battery

Wires have been cut in my citroen saxo vts where the radio goes. i have a radio but as the cars original sterio loom has been cut out i am having trouble knowing what wire connects to what

based on not having steering controls if you have you will need a cit wiring diagram but the norm is
you will need a volt meter and a 9v battery,
test all wires with meter to fin a live with the ign switched off, ths is the live memory feed
the try again with the ign on, this is the switched live
there will be an earth/ground and light feed when you power the lights on.
when you do that to find the speakers
take a pair of remaining wires and place them on the 9v battery, work through the wires til you here a speeaker crakle, then continue till you find all speaker, that will allow you to hook up to a aftermarket unit,
or if you can get to a scrap car of the same year and type, cut the harness out and match up the wires
