You have to do a firmware update after main board replacement. It is a must. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

I have a Sanyo DP50747. The screen just went black. I think it should be something fairly simple I just need to figure out what parts i need. Any help would be great

Could be the main board, power board or Tcon board, take your pick...only way to isolate what one is bad is use a multi meter and test the various power supply voltages and see what is missing or out of tolerance.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

I have a sanyo dp42849. i turned it on this morning. the power light went on and i have no picture or sound

Sounds like a main board issue, but please have the set diagnosed properly. Be aware, some Sanyo main boards can be hard to find and costly !!!

Dp50740 power led goes on and off

What you have is most likely a failed main board. These sets are known for this problem. There are several different variations of the main boards. Make sure you order one that matches yours. The main board part # will start with J4@#. The main board part # should be on a sticker either on the main board itself or on the coax input terminal casing. I hope you got the TV for a good price !!!

I have a Sanyo DP42746 and it is about 3 years old. Yesterday the picture went out, but the sound still worked. It went off for a minute and then came back on. It is starting to get worse in that it is...

For what it's worth, you can download the official Sanyo repair manual for this TV (DP42746) at http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/43343/sanyo_dp42746.html. I uploaded it here when I had the same issue with my TV last year.
The solution is almost always to replace the Power Board (Y-Main) and the Upper and Lower Y Buffers. The parts and costs (from Sanyo in July 2009) are listed below (NOTE: Sanyo will not ship these parts to anyone but a repair shop):
1. V4 Y-Main (Y-Sustain) Circuit Board (Part # LJ92-01200A, Alt Part # LJ41-02759A) - USD $139.00
2. Upper Y-Buffer Circuit Board (Part # LJ92-01202A, Alt Part # LJ41-02760) - USD $64.00
3. Lower Y-Buffer Circuit Board (Part # LJ92-01203A, Alt Part # LJ41-02761A) - USD $64.00

Sanyo charges USD $10.50 for shipping, which brings the total cost for parts to USD $277.50. From my research, a shop would probably charge between USD $500 and $700 to do this repair.
FYI - there is a class action lawsuit pending against Sanyo for this issue. The V4 Y-Main (Y-Sustain) Circuit Boards fail VERY frequently in this TV due to overheating. Hope this helps.

Hi, had a question about what you said, have a minute?

You need to replace the top and bottom y buffers when you replace the Ymain. If not, it will just go back out. If you have space, wire a 12 volt mini cpu fan near the left of the Ymain and the buffers, should last alot longer that way.

TV WONT WORK

I was lucky to get a tv repair shop that was a Sanyo authorized dealer to talk to me about this issue.
They told me that they had 3 of these tv's in and they said they were all repaired by replacing "3" parts. they are:

the Y SUSTAIN Board - Part # LJ92-01200a
the Y-Upper Buffer Board Part # LJ92-01202a
and
the Y- Lower Buffer Board Part # LJ92-01203a

I am in the same boat. I amd going to rip the back of my tv off and verify the part numbers. I HAVE NOT REPAIRED MINE YET.. so take this for what it is worth. The Repair shop gave me this info because they were going out of business and did not intend to take any new tv's in for service. The girl who gave me this info read it out of the service repair tickets from 3 Sanyo DP42746 tv's that had the same symptoms as my tv.

Please post back if any one has taken action.
