Hi Sharon, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm not sure from your question which model of Dyson vacuum you own, but we would strongly advise against dismantling the cyclone pack of any Dyson vacuum. This can cause damage to your machine not covered under your Dyson guarantee.

It's not necessary to dismantle or clean the cyclone pack to maintain performance. If you can reply to confirm which model you own I should be able to provide some additional maintenance advice.

Alternatively if you'd like to speak with our experts directly, you're welcome to call us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Dyson DC41 has a blue/purple canister inside the clear canister that has a screen in the middle and feed air into the 12 chambers. How do I get it off of the machine to clean it?

If it's the first time you've tried to take the inner cannister/filter out or you've had the vaccuum cleaner a while they can be quite stiff but it will come off.
Firstly, check where the cannister meets the inside of the outer body of the cleaner for a small plastic clip. It's about 2cm -3cm in size and attached to the main housing with a small plastic rivet so as to pivot or swivel. It may also have a slightly raised edge allowing you to push & swivel it about 90 degrees so it no longer covers the lip of the inner cannister. Now firmly hold the inner part and turn it anti-clockwise. It doesn't move far, a couple of inches at most but you should hear it click as the lugs turn to where their are gaps in the housing to allow the two pieces to come apart.
If it's the model I'm thinking of which was our last model, (I'm going on it being purple and the fact you mentioned the inner cyclone chambers) then it should come apart. I would also make a small line with a marker pen to help line them up for putting back together. They look as if the lugs slot back in anywhere but they only go one way and a line will help as a guide. Hope this helps.

I took the filter assembly apart, now I can't get it back together. There's a silver medal ring, a big cotton back, an inner plastic seal and an outer plastic seal. Somehow, they all fit back together....

The cotton bag wraps around the hepa filter - the blue plastic part will not be visible once the bag is in place. The silver ring sits inside the cotton bag to hold the sides of the bag against the sides of the vacuum top-half. DON'T pull the plastic inner seal and outer seal apart. They snap together and snap onto the lip of the vacuum top-half. It's a bit of a struggle snapping the seal back onto the lip.

How do I open the dirt cannister on a dyson animal (purple) so I can empty the dirt out?

This is fairly easy. Click on the button at the top of the hand above the cannister. It's a purple button and the handle faces the front and says Dyson on it. This separate the cannister from the body.

Next, hold the now full cannister above a trash can and click on the red button which was below the purple button (but hidden when it was attached).

Euro-pro model EP923H Steam Valve

I suspect you have done something on this by now but . . . You need to pry out a plastic cap/insert in the top of the handle. Beneath it are 1-2 screws to remove. The halves will then come apart. I have mine broken down but have no idea what to do now. It is not making steam. Reply if you have any thoughts.

Hoover mach 3 cyclone vacuum shut off during useage. can't turn it on. cleaned it out and let it sit thinking overheated? this is 2 months old. help?

I had same problem. Turned out to be the filter that sits above the waste cannister. Remove the waste cannister. There is a little orange lever that releases the filter. It was caked with dirt not allowing any air flow causing the motor to overheat.

This foam filter gets dirty pretty fast.
