On a heat pump A/C unit the orange wire going to the thermostat operates the reversing valve. default is the heat cycle. Without the orange wire connected the unit will only run heat. Most straight cool units have no orange wire. Red wire to the thermostat is for 24 volt DC. Red wire to the blower motor is low speed Black is high speed. Hook up both and MELT THE MOTOR !

How to measure Voltage in Transforme for Fitness Treadmill

Transformer Test Procedure:1). Make sure that transformer wire connections (CON1) to the drive board are secured. Turn unit on.2). Put multimeter to the AC voltage setting. Insert meter probes into the transformer primary (red)wires as shown. Normal reading: 110V. This shows that there is power to the transformer.3). Test transformer output by probing on secondary (output) wires: black and black, white and white, orange and orange, yellow and yellow

Transformer Test Results :1). If there is no voltage across the primary (red) wires, inspect F1 fuse on the drive board and power to the drive board. 2). If there is voltage across primary wires but none across secondary wires, the transformer is bad.Replace it.

Transformer Wire Colors Normal Voltage Value:
Red and Red 110 VAC.
Black and Black 11-13 VAC
White and White 11-13 VAC
Orange and Orange 27-29 VAC
Yellow and Yellow 10-12 VAC

I have an Indesit ISL70 and we seem to have developed a problem. Three red lights are flashing (water, filter, heat exchanger, all of which are ok) and the door won't open. Any advice?

Note:- The front NTC connects on the top edge of the circuit board - plug with two orange wires. The element and rear NTC are connected on the right hand side of the circuit board - this plug has 5 wires Blue, Orange, Brown, Red and Black.

1) The front NTC measures approx 500k ohms.
2) The rear NTC measures approx 500K ohms [red and black wires on the plug]
3) The resistance between Orange and Blue Wires is Approx 46 Ohms [This is one half of the element]
4) The resistance between Orange and Brown wires is Approx 46 Ohms [This is the other half of the element]
5) The resistance between the Blue and Brown Wires is approx 92 Ohms [This both parts of the element]

My machine has 2 devices above the element, one is an NTC the other is the safety cut-out. The safety cut-out is connected in the orange wire to the element common connection.

The resistance of the NTC's varies with temperature - so you may not get the figure I have quoted. The resistance reduces as the NTC warms up; if you remove the NTC connect it to an Ohm meter and warm the flat metal side with your finger you'll see the resistance go down - the drop wont be dramatic [after all your finger is not that hot] and is easier to see on a digital meter.

Measurements taken with the plugs disconnected on a digital meter... and don't forget folks MAINS PLUG OUT FIRST!!!!

Important.... there are some different versions of these dryers, so different readings may be obtained.

Hello! I will assume you are connecting a factory radio for your 1993 Shadow.
Remove the Orange wire from ground...Listed below is wiring from car to radio; You may need this one day...You are correct; There isn't a dimmer wire...The Orange wire, from the radio, connects to the Orange/White of the vehicle...Grounding the Orange wire is causing your problem...

1993 Shadow...Orange/ White=Illumination...Red=Hot at all times...Red/White=Switched 12volts...Black=Ground

Factory radio...Orange=Illumination...Pink=Hot at all times... Red/White=Switched 12volts...Black=Gnd.

Car; Orange/White to Orange of radio
Red To Pink
Red/White To Red/White
Black To Black

Let me know how you make out..

Aprilaire 560 does not work. No clicks

I just solved a problem with mine today.  One of my low voltage power wires to the humidity control had a bad connection.  I reconnected it and I could again hear the solenoid valve clicking as I adjusted the dial control.
I found the problem with a voltmeter:  there was voltage at the power terminals on the humidity control terminal board, but there was no voltage at the solenoid valve terminals.  It was hard to push my big wires into the terminal board, but I finally secured the connection!
