DELL Inspirion AC adapter not charging

The adapter can be tested with a voltmeter to see if putting out correct voltage--battery may also be bad--

I doubt the AVG had anything to do with this but uninstall it to see as a last resort.

Not charging is almost always either the charger or the battery--charger usually will have a light on it to show if voltage there but testing voltage will confirm if it is or is not working--could also have a loose or damaged socket on the computer where the charger connects.

The battery icon which shows battery is full, keeps flashing continuously on Philips CD565 Duo

I would return it to the manufacture, you have described two different problems, this is clearly a manufacture defect.

Wont turn on

1.Plug the Inspiron's AC power cord into a power outlet and try to power on the laptop again. By far the most common cause of a laptop's not powering on is a dead battery.
2.Plug the AC adapter into a different outlet to check for a "dead" outlet. If you have the cable plugged into a surge protector, plug the cord into a different slot on the surge protector or "bypass" the surge protector by plugging the cable into an electrical outlet. If the Inspiron now powers on, replace the surge protector or have an electrician examine any "dead" outlets in the home.
3.Open the battery bay on the underside of the Inspiron by sliding the battery bay latch release lock upward and the battery bay latch release to the right. Once both latches are released, the battery bay should open.
4.Remove the battery.
5.Purchase a compatible replacement battery for laptop. Be aware that using an incompatible battery can cause damage to your computer. If you have any doubt as to compatibility, the best option is to purchase the replacement battery directly from your laptop's manufacturer.
6.Install the new battery by following the battery-removal procedure in reverse order. Once the new battery is installed, try again to power on the laptop. If there is still no power, seek professional repair advice.

I hope you find it very helpful.

No audio output is installed

If you haven't already done this, try going to the man Manufacture's web page, get into the drivers & downloads area to download the driver that should be with or installed your Laptop when first purchased. Sometimes the manufacture will not only have the driver download of the original that suppose to be there, but also have an updated one to download. Make sure you have the proper name, model number, serial number and or sid number on hand so you can get the right driver.
Check you device manager also to see what version may have been there or may still be there. Sometime the device manager will have a link for an updated version (try using the link first).
You may need to download an audio codec to fix the problem too. That too is a driver download that should be listed on the manufacture's web site. If you can't locate the driver's you need on the manufacture's web site you can google "free codec""free audio driver download for ? (name of manufacture) laptop."
I hope this will help you, I'm guessing here, without more knowledge of your problem. This problem you seem to have sounds like the one that others have experienced after receiving an update from some place (like Microsoft). good luck

I have to take out the battery then put it back again before my Thinkpad will start up. Battery is not holding charge also. Are both of these problems due to a worn out battery, if so where in Ireland...

Yes, if the battery voltage is low, due to a dead cell in the battery, it could confuse the Laptop.

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers and Driver downloads as required.

Just Google the manufacturer's name and follow the links. Make certain you are directed to the manufacturer's web site as some search engines direct you to other sites and they charge for the information that is normally free of charge.

I hope this helps.

My battery will not re-charge. Loose AC jack - maybe?

What is the Model name and Manufacturer?

If it is a more recent Laptop you should be able to purchase a replacement AC adapter.

I am unaware of a way to fix the AC adapter if it is within the cabling; I hope you manage to track down a cheap one and get that laptop booting soon ;)
