Are you sure it is an SD card and not an SDHC, or SDXC card? because older devices can't use newer cards. Newer devices, can use older cards. SD was up to 2 Giga Byte.SDHC is up to 32 Giga Byte. SDXC if everything above 32 Giga Byte.
But be aware even the newer 2 GB cards come as SDHC, and can't be used in the older cameras (or devices)
Most Android tablets can't work with SDXC (only the newest can)

SOURCE: Kodak C875 memory card

if the cards your using are 2gb or less and it loops on the formatting msg, the cam needs to be serviced
if you're using more than 2, it's really not gonna work with more than 2 as it's not sdhc ready

SOURCE: I purchased a 8gig sd card and tried to put it in

The camera only supports SD memory (limit 2GB), not SDHC (4GB and more). The manual claims up to 1GB guaranteed, though the camera recognizes my 2GB card card.

Hi I can tell that sometime you have to format within computer using external memory card reader, not from camera. It is not recommend switching around one sd card to another camera. It cause card error. If you want to use it, then you have to save pictures somewhere in other storage or computer, and format the one you want to use in computer using external memory card reader. And then one more time format in camera (you have to insert memory card into camera) These method very helpful on like your problem. If not working, then you have either camera defective or memory defective. Thanks and best regard!

My micro sd card is showing unrecognised format. i have some important data stored in it. i dont want to lose that data. please help me to get the data stored in my card..

Don't be panic. you can try some data recovery software. You can see
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Asoftech-Data-Recovery/290956907592436?sk=info
It tells the steps how to perform data recovery.

If above does not work, you may have to format the memory card (use quick format), and then use above mentioned software to scan again the memory card and recover your files.

Purchase a USB SD card reader and put your SD card in it and plug that into a USB port on your PC. You can then transfer your pictures to a new folder in your Pictures folder on your PC.

See Universal Memory Card reader: http://cgi.ebay.com/23-IN-1-USB-2-0-MEMORY-CARD-READER-CF-MS-XD-SD-/390284020936?pt=PCC_Drives_Storage_Internal&hash=item5adebd8cc8

After verifying the pictures transferred OK to your PC, place the SD card back into your phone and format it. Once formatted, you can transfer your pictures from your PC back to your SD card.

I can't get my LGvx9200 cellular phone to sync music to an external memory chip. It keeps telling me to unplug it and reset device and try again later.

I never got this message, but had to use the SD adapter with the micro sd card in a pc after formatting the chip on the phone. Of course, reformatting will cause data to be lost, so save data first if you can. Verizon told me to format the chip in the phone not the pc. Took about three times too. Hope this helps, Schlange:)

Hi: I have a lumix/Panasonic DMC-FS3. I keep getting a message "Memory Card Error. Please check the card." Nothing has happened to the card. What could cause that?

Has the memory card ever worked in this camera? If yes, try downloading all the pictures to your computer then format the memory card using the camera setip menu. If this is a new camera, Make sure the camera can use the SD HC type memory cards. Some older cameras cannot read the SDHC but are fine with the SD cards.

Some notebooks cannot read SD capacities of 4GB and above. The workaround is to use an external SD card reader.
