Question about Dishwashers
Don't know what the problem is or how to fix it, but I will give you and anyone else that reads this a bit of advice. When you are looking to buy ANY new appliance, car etc. INSIST that the factory service manual and error codes be supplied to you as part of the conditions of the sale! If more and more customers begin to DEMAND them and refuse to purchase the items without the manuals, the manufacturers will have no choice but to supply them. If they don't then don't buy their product, buy one from a company that does.will supply them.

call sears, 1-800-4MY-HOME. They have a trouble-shooting department that will get rid of this problem. It is caused by water temperature being wrong at the start of the cycle.... blah, blah, blah. The representative will tell you to push a certain set of buttons in a certain order and that unlocks the dishwasher.
Sorry I don't know the sequence

with your volt/ohm meter check for power going to the dishwasher. the power supply is located under the kick panel. the power wire may be shorted out due to poor installation. if you are not comfortable testing power, I would advise calling a professional. If no power is found at the power box (this has a power cord or electrical wire going to it) the problem lies within your house electric. if 120 volts is present, check for power @ the door switch. aftrer that you just need to follow the power wire and see where it stops
If this is a newly built house and new to you the builder may have put a light switch above your counter ,the one you didn't think went to anything, check for that! good luck with it!

According to the GE repairman who visited, the solution is to close the machine (with the lights flashing). The machine starts and goes through the cycles, which it does rapidly and then all the lights turn off and the machine becomes silent after 1-1/2 to 2 minutes. Then the machine has been reset to normal. During this reseting period nothing happens inside the machine, although you may hear a running sound.
Thus, the solution is to run the machine in this flashing light state for the 1-2 minutes it takes to go raipdly through each cycle and then reset.
I hope this helps.

We had the same issue with ours...tried turning off at the breaker, still didn't reset. Contacted appliance repair who came in and unplugged it from underneath the sink, waited a few seconds and plugged it back...dishwasher reset and repairman charged trip charge and labor $65 BUT problem is resolved and we now know what to do in the future.
