The best way would be to place a phone call. You may send an email. Have your order number with you in order to be assured you get the correct order etc. I would prefer to make the call and speak to a live human. Explain the situation using a calm polite voice. I think you will get the customer service you expect this way. If the order has already been shipped, you may be able to send it back as long as you have not opened it.

Training you cat to use a litter box

For the most part, learning to use a litter box is instinctive for cats; however sometimes they may need a little extra coaching along the way. The following are some tips to help you train your cat to using a litter box successfully.

Place your cat in the litter box after every nap, meal, play session or any other time your cat appears inclined to relieve itself

While litter box training try leaving a small amount of waste in the litter box so the scent can act as a reminder to your cat as to what the box is for

Find a good location - away from high traffic areas; preferably somewhere your cat can access at any time of day/night

Do not place the litter box near your cats food or water

Never punish your cat for having an accident outside the litter box. Instead I recommend firmly saying NO and then placing your cat in their litter box and praising them. This way they will begin to associate positive reinforcement with the litter box as opposed to negative associations.

If you have multiple cats, you should have multiple litter boxes. Like us, cats want their privacy too

Tip

Keeping your cats litter box smelling fresh

If your cats litter box is not cleaned every day, or the litter is not changed frequently, the odor will build up. Here are some tips that will help you keep litter box odor at a minimum:

Never put your cats litter box in your own bathroom. The best location for a litter box is in a small closet; preferably somewhere you keep your cleaning supplies.

Avoid using hooded litter boxes. No matter how clean you keep it, the hood will trap odors.

Try lining the bottom of the litter box with a thin layer of baking soda.

Opt for a clumping cat litter. They make it easier to remove waste.

Use a litter box deodorizer.

Be diligent about cleaning the litter box and area surrounding it

The following is a great brand of litter that neutralizes odors upon contact with moisture. I have noticed a difference since we started using it.

Is there any way to recycle cat litter?

There are a few ways in which cat litter can be reused:

  • to clean up spilt oil (perhaps in the garage or driveway) - simply sprinkle some cat litter on top and let it absorb the oil
  • fill up small sink holes in your garden
  • if you use a wood/wheat based cat litter you can spread it as mulch
  • if the litter is made of natural ingredients, it can be added to your compost

My dog keeps eating the litter out of my cats litter box. What can I do to put an end to this?

There are a few things you can do to prevent your dog from being attracted to your cats litter box. First and foremost, you should try to remove your cats waste as quickly as possible. You can also try sprinkling some meat tenderizer onto your cats food before ingestion. This will help make the smell of your cats ***** less enticing to your dog. Lastly, I would recommend placing your cats litter box somewhere that your dog cannot reach it; possibly by raising the litter box or placing it in a room only accessible through a small cat door.

They have stopped making the brand of litter I have always bought for my cats litter box so I will need to find a new one. I have been told that cats do not adapt well to new litter. What can I do to...

I would recommend adding a small amount of the new litter in with the older product. Slowly you can start adding more and more newer product to the litter box until your cat receives the change without any problems.

How can I train my cat to use the litter box?

Cats learn quickly how to use litter boxes. Keep an eye on your cat at first and after waking up or eating, place your cat in the litter box. If you see your cat squatting, this would also be a good time to place him/her in their litter box. If they happen to have an accident outside the litter box I suggest wiping it up with a paper towel and placing it in the box. Then take your cats paws and place them in the box - this way they will associate what they have just done with the place where they should be doing it. When they successfully use the box for the first few times, make sure to praise them.
