Move the hand to set time, but make sure to stop on every hour and let the clock chime the hour completely before moving to the next hour. That will set the time and sync your time with your chimes.

The battery-powered button is an RF transmitter. When the plug-in chime is replaced, jumpers may have to be changed to match the code in the button.

How do I change the batteries in my Carlon RC8800R doorbell

Do you need to replace the batteries in the chime button or the receiver? To change the batteries on the doorbell (chime button) for most Carlon models, you need a ballpoint pen first to remove the chime button from the back. Press the pen point in the small round hole at the bottom of the button. Then gently push in on the tab. Finally rotate the chime button cover up and away from the back cover. Next take the ballpoint pen or a small screwdriver and place it in the slot below the top battery. Lift the battery up. Repeat this with the second battery. Then place the replacement CR2032 batteries into the battery compartment one at a time with the positive side up.

For the most of the wireless receivers, press the center of the brass tubes and lift those free to replace the 4 D cell batteries (2 behind each tube). A few models have a more obvious battery cover for a set of 4 AA cell batteries.

Many Carlon wireless chime manuals are available here: http://www.lamson-home.com/WirelessChimes.php . The direct link to the manual listed for the RC8800R is http://www.lamson-home.com/ProductSupport/WirelessChimes/RC3304_4300IM_3.06_v2.pdf .

I hope this helps.

How can I get my clock to chime the right time? It is always one hour too much.

  • First see if changing the time with the battery out changes the time without changing the cycle on the chime - I could just imagine somebody adjusting the clock for daylight savings and the clock doesn't change it's chime cycle correctly with the battery a certain way - in or out - maybe it's the opposite and you have to take the battery out and somebody didn't now you have to leave it in.
  • Check the internet for the original manual if you know the model.
  • Look for clues to setting the chime on the back? is there a separate knob - are the batteries both good?
Still not working after playing with it? Here is the mechanical way to fix it:
Sounds great, but it still is chiming the wrong time after playing with it? This will fix it:
  • Set the clock for exactly at the chime - I suggest 3 o'clock chime - the hands will be wrong (2 or 4 or whatever)
  • Remove the battery(s) - I do custom imprinted clock faces and it seems to me that 3 o'clock is the easy place for me to put the hands back.
  • Take the clock apart - usually it is tiny screws on the back, or you will see 3 or 4 v shaped wires. push the v wire out of one side - they are springs that some clocks use to hold the rim instead of the screws - they are easier than they look - just pull one side and remove.
  • Gently pull up each hand off the shaft. I hope you have fingernails.
  • Replace the hands back at exactly the time that they are supposed to be (3 o'clock in my example) - you start with the hour hand and gently push on the spindle make it look level and all the way on - then the minute hand at 12 also level
    • Remember to play with the time first so you'll be happy that you put the hands exactly where the chime should start.
    • Remember to make that time be exactly on the hour with the small hand and exactly on the 12 with the big hand so the hands line up correctly.

How do I get it to chime on every hour

most chiming clocks only chime on the hour from 6 am to 9 pm
if it is a digital clock with a chimer the set it to 12 hour and not 24 hour
make sure that the chime has a good battery in the chime circuit and it is set to chime on the correct hour
If the statement made to you was correct then it would be chiming at night instead of the day

Phantom bell rings on Siemens wirreless door bell chime jsjs-204, I do not have instructions

You may need to change the frequency of the chime. In this model, you need to remove the batteries from the receiver unit and wait for a while. Then replace the batteries. The doorbell unit should automatically set itself to a different frequency once you press the button, which will(hopefully) solve the problem.

It seems impossible to find the instruction manual for the doorbell. But see http://oddsnsods.net/blog/?p=68 who had a similar problem with a different Siemens model, which works on the same principles. (I can't seem to be able to remove the battery from the door bell unit on the jsjs204, but it reset itself after changing the batteries in the receiver).

The doorbell buttons and your receiver must be on the same channel. If you will get out the directions that came with your unit, they will describe the process to go through to reset the specific "codes" for your buttons and receiver.

Beep and chime will not work

I think there would have been a minute spring coming from the back of the watch module to the backplate of the watch - this spring carried a vibration / beep which echoed off the backplate. Chances are you have damaged this spring during battery change - as i did with my gShock. Basically it's nackered!

'Doorman' chimes keep chiming, without bell being pushed

I had the same problem - turned out to be a cordless phone nearby. If you have one, try moving the bell away from the phone or vice-versa. Another possibility is a neighbour with the same code. There are some jumpers you can move around to change this.
