Move the hand to set time, but make sure to stop on every hour and let the clock chime the hour completely before moving to the next hour. That will set the time and sync your time with your chimes.

Straussburg Manor chime clock doesn't work even after replacing battery. Any tips to troubleshoot? The clock was obtained via auction. Tried manually swinging the pendulum, but it always stops.

Troubleshoot the issue. Here are some steps you can take:

Check the Chime Selection Lever:
Ensure that the chime selection lever is not set to the "silent" position. Sometimes, accidentally setting it to silent mode can prevent the chimes from sounding.

Inspect the Cam with Humps:
The Westminster mechanical clock has a cam with humps on the front plate of the movement. These humps control when the movement stops chiming.

Run the chime by turning the hand (you can mount it with the nut, but it's not necessary). Observe the cam with the humps spinning.
Wait until it reaches the end of the smallest hump (which represents the first quarter, the shortest chime).

Stop the gear train from moving with your fingers and hold it.
Adjust the hammers from the back of the movement to match the position where the last hammer drops after the 1-2-3-4-5 hammers strike in a row, representing the end of the first quarter.
Tighten the cam so that the bar riding the cam is just after the smallest hump. This should set the chimes correctly.

Battery Replacement:
If you've recently replaced the battery, ensure that you've used fresh C batteries with high capacity.
Batteries should be changed annually to guarantee accurate timing and consistent chime sounds.

Low Battery Warning Function:
If your clock starts behaving irregularly or the pendulum stops (if equipped), it might be due to low battery. Install new batteries to resolve this issue.

Remember, these are general guidelines, and specific models may have additional considerations. If the problem persists, consider seeking professional assistance or replacing the movement if necessary. If your clock is chain-driven, you can order the 1161-053 movement from Clockworks when you're ready to swap it out.

Ademco Vista keypad says "Chime Bat"

The "Chime Bat" message on your Ademco Vista keypad indicates that the battery in the chime module is low and needs to be replaced. The chime module is a small device that produces a sound when the system is disarmed or when a door or window is opened.
To change the battery in the chime module, follow these steps:
  1. Locate the chime module. It is usually mounted on a wall near the main control panel or in a closet.
  2. Remove the cover of the chime module. The cover is typically held in place by a small clip or screw.
  3. Locate the battery compartment. It is usually located on the back or bottom of the chime module.
  4. Remove the old battery and replace it with a new one. The type of battery required will depend on the model of your chime module. Refer to the owner's manual or contact Ademco for information on the correct battery type.
  5. Replace the cover of the chime module and secure it in place.
After replacing the battery, the "Chime Bat" message should disappear from the keypad display

Seth Thomas wall clock doesn't chime on the quarter, half or three quarter hour but does chime on the hour

Hi,

Please change the time of your wall clock back 1 hour and check if the other 3 chimes return. There should be knobs on the side of the clock to help you do this. If not on the side, then please check on the back. Since you've already checked the settings and ruled them out as the cause of the issue (as well as the batteries), you might need to perform a factory reset on the clock if the steps I mentioned above fail.

Thank you.

How do I change the batteries in my Carlon RC8800R doorbell

Do you need to replace the batteries in the chime button or the receiver? To change the batteries on the doorbell (chime button) for most Carlon models, you need a ballpoint pen first to remove the chime button from the back. Press the pen point in the small round hole at the bottom of the button. Then gently push in on the tab. Finally rotate the chime button cover up and away from the back cover. Next take the ballpoint pen or a small screwdriver and place it in the slot below the top battery. Lift the battery up. Repeat this with the second battery. Then place the replacement CR2032 batteries into the battery compartment one at a time with the positive side up.

For the most of the wireless receivers, press the center of the brass tubes and lift those free to replace the 4 D cell batteries (2 behind each tube). A few models have a more obvious battery cover for a set of 4 AA cell batteries.

Many Carlon wireless chime manuals are available here: http://www.lamson-home.com/WirelessChimes.php . The direct link to the manual listed for the RC8800R is http://www.lamson-home.com/ProductSupport/WirelessChimes/RC3304_4300IM_3.06_v2.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Phantom bell rings on Siemens wirreless door bell chime jsjs-204, I do not have instructions

You may need to change the frequency of the chime. In this model, you need to remove the batteries from the receiver unit and wait for a while. Then replace the batteries. The doorbell unit should automatically set itself to a different frequency once you press the button, which will(hopefully) solve the problem.

It seems impossible to find the instruction manual for the doorbell. But see http://oddsnsods.net/blog/?p=68 who had a similar problem with a different Siemens model, which works on the same principles. (I can't seem to be able to remove the battery from the door bell unit on the jsjs204, but it reset itself after changing the batteries in the receiver).

The doorbell buttons and your receiver must be on the same channel. If you will get out the directions that came with your unit, they will describe the process to go through to reset the specific "codes" for your buttons and receiver.

Beep and chime will not work

I think there would have been a minute spring coming from the back of the watch module to the backplate of the watch - this spring carried a vibration / beep which echoed off the backplate. Chances are you have damaged this spring during battery change - as i did with my gShock. Basically it's nackered!
