Question about Dryers
New 4 plug purchased at Home Depot has black, red, white and green wire connection however the Maytag Ensignia dryer model MDE6657BYW has blue & brown wire on the left, 2 white wires in the middle and black & yellow wire on the right. With the new 4 plug what do I connect the black, red, white & green wires to on the 3 connections on the Maytag?

on plug white is neutral, black is power , red is power, green is ground. black/yellow and blue are power and white is always neutral ie. (white to white) black to black/yellow, blue to red. green to grounding screw on machine

For example; Green wire goes to green screw on machine. White in the middle, red on left, black on right. (observed small color coded wires connecting in back-ground as well.)
In general, each color should match. Meaning, white with white.

The two wires on either side of the power cord are your HOT leads. They are the voltage carrying conductors. These two wires will connect to the terminal block on the RED and BLACK wires. The middle wire is NEUTRAL and goes to the WHITE wire at the terminal block. Now...with a 3-wire configuration you will need to connect a grounding strap to the neutral wire and ground it to the grounding lug of the appliance. The following link explains:
The main difference between 3 and 4 wire configuration is how the neutral and ground wires are installed. In a four wire configuration these two are independent of each other. In a 3 wire configuration ground and neutral are connected together.
If you have any questions about this repair, please ask me. I hope this helps you.
