Please try these steps to solve your problem:
1) Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to run the Task Manager
2) Click on "File" on the Task Manager upper menu
3) Click on "New Task (Run)" option, Run window should appear
4) Type "explorer" without the quote, on the Run window
5) Your start menu and icon on desktop should now appears

hi. its purely a virus problem that prompts u from performing some actions in ur system. visit filehippo.com website. download AVG anti virus latest version scan ur computer. the problem wil get solved.

Can you go to safemode and check if you are able to see the icons.
Did you run a virus scan lately. If not you can try that.

Run a registry cleaner. It will reconnect the proper registry files with the programs. You will probably average 5-50 registry errors per week. After a while, they will slow or stop things from working.
