Hello Gwilym;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.
I would be more than happy to help you. Please send a model number. The model number is a label on the top where you open the dishwasher door.
Dishwasher handles are mounted differently depending on the model.
Hope to hear from you soon.

It's an Indesit W123. I had indicated that in my original query but the website hasn't shown it. My problem is that the machine is 75 miles away at my elderly mother's house. I need to obtain the part and get as much information as possible about replacing it before I travel there to do it. I've found the replacement part at sparessearch.co.uk and my mother says there are some cross head screws inside the door, which look as though they are the ones to undo.

You will need the following tools: Torque head screw driver, Phillips head screw driver, small flat head screw driver, Butter knife.

You will have to remove the door so you can lay it down to work on it. There are 2 torque head screws on the door hinge - remove these. On the inside of the door are 6 phillips head screws - remove these. Use a butter knife to go around the joint where the front ring part and the back ring part are joined. Set the inside ring aside. Remove the glass. Now, take a picture of the door handle viewed fron the inside of the door, and a picture of the door handle viewed from the outside of the door - for reference purposes. Study the handle for a few minutes. Turn the door to the outside. With the flat head screw driver, from the top, push the pin down. Turn the door over. From the bottom pull the pin out and remove all parts. Lay the spring in first, then the latch and then the handle. Now the hard part is to push the pin in from the bottom as you align the different holes in the components. If you have gotten this far I do not need to tell you how to finish reassembling the door. Replace outside door handle 1992 somina

Exterior door handles of vehicles are fairly straightforward things to replace once the interior trim panel or door card and waterproof membrane have been removed and these things are often less than straightforward with hidden clips and screws. A repair manual makes the process simpler if you haven't much experience.

The screws or nuts securing the door handle are then accessible with the window up. There is probably a link connecting the handle to the door catch but not always and if the handle also contains the lock there might be a second link connecting to the door catch. Sometime it is easier to release the links from the door catch and withdraw them with the handle and sometimes it is easier to disconnect at the handle before removal. Sometimes it is easier to withdraw the handle a little way and unclip the link(s) outside the door.

In nearly all cases it is a task that is complicated and fiddly the first few times but incredibly simple later on. Look forward to breaking plastic clips, especially in cold weather, and a feeling of frustration.

The best advice I can offer you is make yourself comfortable and don't try to hurry. Have an assistant standing by but don't allow her to distract you. Work in twilight or under overcast skies or deep shade so the shadows aren't so deep ordinary torchlight needed to see inside the door gets lost and you are working blind.
Don't forget to fit the gaskets to the new handle before refitting. Finish by lubricating whatever can be lubricated inside the door, testing whatever can be tested and then washing your hands before refitting the membrane and door card.

How do I take the handle apart on my Kenmore Progressive vacuum model 116.21614011? I removed the screws but it won't come apart.

There are catches that snap the handle together. It's hard to separate the handle without breaking the catches. Replacement may be required

Hood wont catch on the main latch on my 1998 montana

Hi JM, The catches do wear out and more likely the cables become frayed and do not allow the hood catch to return to the correct position for locking. Try pushing in the handle inside the car. If it work then have the cable replaced asap. If not , you may need to replace the catch mechanism Regards John

My door catch on the front passenger side is stuck in a strange lock position and now I can't even shut the door. to be noted the interior door handle for that side did not work this is an 8th generation...

If I understand you correctly and I think I do, the door catch or sometimes called "door check"can break. When this happens the catch rod comes out of position and wedges against the door jam. The door catch will have to be replaced. The door panel will have to come off to replace it, so while your in there you can reattach the inner door handle cable back into place to fix your inoperative inner door handle concern. -hope this helps.

2001 frontier tailgate won't open

Remove the inner pannel. Then move the handle the connecting rod from the handle to the lock will move. Then pull or push the connecting rod helping the handle. When you get it open move the handle again if it moves freely then most likely the catch needs adjusting to adjust loosen the screws aroung the catch on the rear pannel move the catch out a little try closing the tailgate if it takes undue force to close then repeat moving the catch out until it is easy to shut simple rule is if it is hard to close then it will be hard to open! Leave the inner pannel off until you can easily open the tailgate with the handle as you may have to give the handle a helping hand to open until you have finished adjusting.

Belling SGE12X broken door handlw

it's not an easy job to replace a door handle, but to release it for the door to open, turn off the machine at the outlet and unplug. Take the top of the machine off and slide your hand down to the door catch. Depending which type of catch it is, you should either be able to push down a small lever on top or push up a small lever on the bottom or the door catch.

I hope this helps
