Question about Televison & Video
IT POWERS ON BUT NO SOUND OR PICTURE..WHEN I PUT IN THE DARK OR WITH A FLASLIGHT I CAN SEE A LITTLE OF WHATS ON THE SCREEN
What you have here is a failure of the backlighting. It it either the fluorescent tube or the inverter board that supplies the voltage to the tube. There may be a DIY repair capability, but you must be familiar with electronics and soldering techniques to do this. Most often, replacement of the unit is best. Get an LED backlit unit to avoid the three-year failure of the fluorescent models.

SOURCE: dark screen
if the picture is REALLY dark, like you can just barely see it in a lit room, then the backlight might not be lit. LCD TVshave backlight that shines through the LCD screen which allows you to see the picture.
If it's not the backlight then it would be the brightness/contrast settings that need to be adjusted. If the picture used to be normal and all of a sudden went dark, verify the backlight. Normally you can look through the slots on the top of the set and determine if the backlight is on. If you can see a bright light through any of the slots, the backlight is probably OK... go after the brightness/contrast settings.

your backlight burnt out, this will be a maybe several hundred dollar repair. the screen is backilt by a very expensive flourescent light, without that light, the screen will be black.

SOURCE: no picture but have sound
Your TV have problem with the back light inverter board. This type of complaint can occur under two circumstances.
1.Faulty electrolytic capacitor in the power supply board
2. The back light inverter board.
If you have knowledge in electronics then check the power supply for any faulty or budged electrolytic capacitor. Have adde the picture of faulty electrolytic capacitor how it will look like. check the link. faulty capacitor .
If the are no such faulty electrolytic capacitor then you have to replace the back light inverter board. There is no repair possible with inverter board because its spares are rarely available.
You have didn't mention any model number of your TV. so its not possible to add the exact picture of the inverter board.
