Question about Dishwashers
Diagnostic code F1 on top drawer (no power on bottom which is locked). Tried the start/lock on top drawer but machine quickly reverts to F1 code. I read that this may mean that the Heater Plate may need to be replaced. How do I unlock the bottom drawer to check for water behind) and verify proper function of Heater plate. Any suggestion or drawing on unlocking bottom drawer and locating heater plate. Thanks in advance.
Check out www.ApplianceRepairLesson.com. I hope this is what you needed, and it works for you. Good luck!

Testimonial: "Thank you. I did get a hold of the folks at Fisher Paykel and conrirmed it's the heater plate. I gently forced the bottom drawer open and hope that it'll slide back in when power is restored and lid slides open. Will check the website you mentioned for some How To take the heater plate off and replace. Thanks again."

The motor impeller is located inside the tub.
1. Remove dishrack and filter
2. Twist the strainer lock ring counterclockwise to disengage.
3. Lift and remove strainer and lock ring assembly
4. Remove impeller, inspect for damage and/or debris in sump.
Hope this helps....
The F1 code is retained in memory as the most recent fault (may have happened awhile ago) and may not be related to the current issue.
F1 code can be caused by several things:
1. Defective lid motor(s)...Each drawer has two lid motors that pull the lid tight to the drawer when the cycle is started. (this was very common on early models)
2. Something too tall was placed in the drawer preventing the lid from closing completely.
3. (only seen this once) the drain hose developed a crack causing water to leak only when draining.

F1 indicates a problem with the Flood sensor. I cleaned all the filters etc. removed the drawer viewed under the drawer, it was dry. There is nothing further I can do, so called the Appliances repair person and booked an appointment for him to determine if an outlet hose is blocked or has a hole in it or whatever. Thanks for all the suggestions Blokes. I'm technically challenged. Happy New Year

F1 error means the flood switch in the drawer is activated. If there is water inside when you open the drawer then you will have to manually empty it with a small container.
Most likely the solenoid that controls inlet water is faulty or the water level sensor is faulty.
Try turning the mains power and water off and on again and run dishwasher. If fault persists then you may have replace the parts.
