If you are using the government supplied laptop with Linux os, try 'root' as the password. In most of the cases it works.

Ubuntu has Two different passwords a root password and a user password. When you say you do not have a password you mean a user password. The System is looking for a root password. It asked you for one when you installed the system. If you do not know it the only way I know to get around it is to reinstall. Ubuntu and most linux distro is free. Download one and make a cd or dvd then reinstall if you do not have one.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Tips for a great answer:

If you add that to the fact that Ubuntu does a better job with software updates (a big security boost), then Ubuntu becomes a much more viable alternative for modern PC users, especially those who access most of their services and enterprise apps via a Web browser.
