Question about Amana Distinctions 95% Gas Furnace Gmh950704cx 69k Btu

1 Answer

I have an Amana Distinction furnace, last heating season we had an issue with a lack of air movement to the second floor. We paid for a technician to come out. His solution - boost the blower speed.

I am handy with tools and electronics as I own a computer repair store.

Sounds like if this is a heat pump, maybe it tripped out on high pressure. Maybe just unplugging the system may reset the control boards. This maybe due to a dirty filter or dirty evaporator coil.

SOURCE: Does the lemon law cover air conditioning units?I

as a general rule the lemon law does not effect acs. because the equipment colud be at fault, or the installer couild be at fault , or the installation or application coiuld be at fault, or the power company could be at fault or the ductwork inadquete or undersized? so there are so many variables that a new ac may not fix your problem so they rarely ever provide lets discuss your insatller or dealer. why are they saying the rev valve is bad? let me say covs Changeover valves usually do one of three things. they stick in cool and wont shift so youare stuck in cool or sruck in heat. when energized you hear no kawhoosh sound and compressor doesnt change pitch. then they are stuck in heat or cool. what they do sometimes is stick halfway and that gives a coolish suction and a coolish line to the house but not real cold. the hot gas line is only warm and the discharge line is onlty warm. this means its stuck halfway. some times you can disconnect the fan run the pressures way up and gently tap the valve and it will free up. but it nay stick agagin. the valves in the compressor may also be weak and be misdiagnosed as as half stuck covalve.. you could close off the liquid line and see if the compressor cah pump down to zero . if it can't then compressor maY BE BAD .when the unit was installed did they put in a liquidline drier to collect impurities and protect the valve? its pretty unusual to see a valve fail and if to much heat is applied on replacement then new valve can be damaged. good luck , oh you have the option of requesting a different dealer if it is brand name like trane or american std with a parts and labor warranty. most dealers can honor the other guys warranty and get paid by the factory if you have lost confidence in your guy. i am sure you know right away if you got a budget jack leg job or a pro . good luck.

Amana 80sse furnace fire up work for about 10 min. It goes in lockout and inducer motor stay on

Robert, that is a typical indication of the furnace cycling on its high temperature switch. Look for a dirty filter, return air blockage or any other thing that would cause air flow restriction across the heat exchanger. If nothing else is evident, possibly attempt changing the heating speed to medium low or medium high for heat to improve air flow. But if it worked with no changes prior to this problem, it has to be lack of air flow that is causing the issue.

I have a 1970's MAC-1199 furnace, but it doesn't heat the whole house. My furnace stays on almost constantly. would a blower motor with higher RPM help? We are moving to a new house next year, and can't...

usually the furnace is designed to operate on low speed fan since the air weighs less than the cold air in the cooling season. If you have a med-low speed, try that. Also, check the air filter and if you can get to the a-coil, take that cover off and make sure there is no build up of dirt on it that will restrict the air.

On the zone damper motor, there should be a little lever allowing you to open the damper for emergency heat. Probably a bad zone motor or connection.

Amana furnace comes on then off and within a minute back on again

You have a flame proving device located at the last burner in line take some steel wool and very gently rub the surface to take off the carbon. The device looks like a piece of thick wire sticking real close to where the last burner is. Only will take about three or four strokes. After you do this let me know how it turned out. Ken
