Question about Emerson LC320EMX 32 in. LCD HDTV

2 Answers

While watching TV last night my TV just went off. No green light, no standby light, nothing. Any suggestions?

It was plugged into a power strip with Direct TV box, wireless Internet box, DVD player, etc. Everything else still had power. I even plugged something else into that plug and it worked so it's definitely the TV. Is there a reset button or something?

Try unplugging the TV for a time, like 20 minutes and then plug back in.

Might be your power supply or the invertor in that case when there is no light at the front, if there is light and it's flashing, how many times does it flash? Try to get the sevice manual (not the owner's manual), if you have some experience in electronic. I would first go for the Power supply board. The only way if you have no electronic experience is to go in a repair shop and get an estimate price of the repair but be carefull in the choice of the repair men because they all are always trying to get you ($), making money. Sorry i can't not check it myself across internet. Good luck. Serge.

SOURCE: The tv will not turn on with either the remote or

Hi, I own the same TV and had the same problem. It's the #1 plaguing issue with flat panel TV made by Funai corp. Emerson is made by them. Normally, when this happens, the TV goes into " Protection Mode " because of a failing circuit board.

The most common thing to go out on flat panel TVs is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board. But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can'tactually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptom. I'm willing to bet you have the same problem like mine. One of six Inverter Transformers when bad on my Power/Backlight Inverter Supply Board. I replaced it and it works fine again.

You have a few choices:

1. You can try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 minutes so the TV can reset itself.

2. If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.

3. If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual at Tvtechcenter.com; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $6. And most cases the new part cost less than $15. The service manual at the site is under LC320EM82S.

4. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

Hi Wayne,
I'm glad your getting somewhere with your research. If you arent getting even a standby light, try checking the plug fuse and if this is ok, then the power supply board inside the tv is faulty. Could even be the power pcb fuse or dry capacitors (bulging tops on faulty ones). Hope this helps, and good luck :)

I have a sony bravia 60'' projection tv kds-60a3000. the problem is after a couple of minutes i will get no sound or picture. i disconnected the plug from my power strip for 5 minutes to cool down, then...

The STANDBY light will flash if the television detects an issue within the television. Some of these issues can be resolved simply by following the steps below to reset the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required . Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.
  1. Turn off the television. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
  2. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
  3. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
  4. Turn on the television.

TV WENT OFF AFTER WATCHING AND NOW IT WON'T GO ON AT ALL

Try to do the following, it didn't work for me but it may work for you...

The STANDBY light will flash if an issue is detected within the television. This can sometimes be resolved by simply following the steps below to reset the television.
  1. Turn off the television. IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
  2. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
  5. Turn on the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required. Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.

No picture, no sound, power light steady green

First: Check the power outlet. Check it with a good lamp so you know you are getting power to the set.
Secondly: Check the power cord. Wiggle it around the molded ends to make sure it is not open inside the molded portion of the plugs.

Thirdly: If you know for sure the set is getting power and still no indication at all (you should be getting some little light on the front panel; standby indication) then there may be a fuse on the back panel or just inside the back cover (you will have to remove it; after unplugging the power cord) that needs replaced.

Fourthly: After all these checks if you are getting nothing, you may have some failure inside that is very serious. Normally we do not recommend serious repairs to a set over 4 years of age. This is because the set is likely to develop some other problem soon after the repair is made; further, the repairs are getting more expensive day by day while the price of new sets is coming down dramatically. Lastly, the new sets have better picture, longer lasting circuits and better features.

Hope this is a good solution for you.

thanks for your questions.

TV WENT OFF BY ITSSELF

This TV has reached the end of its (short) life. Needs to be replaced.

You can try looking at what kind of TV it is, what model, and look at the manufacturer's web site, check for the manual, look up what it means when the green light flashes. Might be a code that means something but I think the TV is dead.
