How to form a hypotheses from this statement After mailing your paycheck to the bank, you write a check to pay your rent. The rent check bounces.

The paycheque is held up in the mail or lost in the mail, the bank has made an administrative error failing to credit it to your account and either credited it to the wrong account or has mislaid it internally.

There is also the possibility of criminal activity or mischief by either the mail or bank staff. There are as many bored and nasty people working in offices as the much-publicised fast food outlets.

What is the independent variable and the dependent variable for hypothesis:if i put my plants from the shady side to the sunny side it will have more flowers too

well to have a proper hypothesis : you need a control group and a variable group , the control group of course would be plants that get all the sun from only one direction and receive the same food and water as all the others , your variable of course would be plants that were rotated say every ten minutes while in full sun , then the hypothesis would deem true if those variable plants produced more flowers !!

now me im an engineer id design a turn table that was solar powered so it only turn while receiving sunlite then id see if it produced more flowers than a static plant sitting still !!

What does hypothesis mean

A hypothesis is a proposed theory that could explain a set of observations or circumstances. It usually requires experiments to test it before it becomes an accepted theory. Testing often takes the form of "the hypothesis explains all of the observations, but if it is true, then it suggests one should observe x when y happens.

I have homwook and I have. To do vocab and I need to need to now what I need to now what is the defination of hypothisis

In science, a hypothesis is an idea or explanation that you then test through study and experimentation. Outside science, a theory or guess can also be called a hypothesis.
A hypothesis is something more than a wild guess but less than a well-established theory. In science, a hypothesis needs to go through a lot of testing before it gets labeled a theory. In the non-scientific world, the word is used a lot more loosely. A detective might have a hypothesis about a crime, and a mother might have a hypothesis about who spilled juice on the rug. Anyone who uses the word hypothesis is making a guess.

I have to do homework and I don't now what hypothesis means

A hypothesis is a possible answers to a scientific problem you have been studying. Say you have carried out some observations on some phenomenon, done calculations tried to find some regularities. Then come the question why is it doing this? Now is the time to formulate a hypothesis. It describes what you think is happening. It is some sort of a guess (after having done some experimentation), not right after the title of your lab report. Once a hypothesis is formulated you devise some further experimentation to test it.

Investigation based on the effect of light intensity on the rate of photosynthesis.state the hypothesis and variables

Well, your variables are in the statement of the topic. Light intensity and rate of photosynthesis. the independent variable could be the light intensity.
No light ( Intensity =0), no photosynthesis (rate=0). Increase the light intensity, the rate of photosynthesis should go up.

Hypothesis: As light intensity increases, the rate should (? ) go up.

What is a hypothesis?

In science it is a proposed theory about how certain observations can arise. For the hypothesis to be proven, it must be testable and fit every natural set of observations repeatedly.

Even then, some observation may arise in future which does not fit. For this reason we can never quite prove a hypothesis incontrovertibly.

Give me an examples of scientific method

For example....

problem: you want to know the ingredients lacking on the food you cooked...

hypothesis: you thought of a reason on why this happened... for example you proposed that salt is lacking because the food you cooked is very sweet...

experiment: you added salt in the food then tasted it again....

analysis: you found out that the tastes became balanced and improved...

conclusion: so you concluded that it so sweet so salt must be added to balance the taste...

Another example:
Scientific method:

Observation - you see something (say an ant on a kitchen table)
Question - (you ask, "Why is it there")
Hypothesis - you propose a reason (he's searching for food)
Experiment - you put food where he can reach it
Analysis - he doesn't take it, so you need a new hypothesis

You use the scientific method every time you test a hypothesis

Hope this simple example could help you to solve your problem. Mam/Sir don't forget me to rate me up I really appreciate what ratings you have given to me. Thanks a lot and God Bless.

I am doing a science fair project called tornado in a tube what would be the hypothesis be !!

There are many answers to that, but you first need to decide what you are testing. Every experiment has a purpose. What can the vortex tube explain? What causes it? How does a real tornado act in comparison? ... The possibilities are endless. Think of the question you want answered, and the hypothesis is your guess of the answer before testing.
