Question about Olympus Camedia Stylus 300 Digital Camera
Keeps reporting card error on two different cards. Tried reformatting to no avail. What to do? Started reporting card full even though it was empty, No matter what I did it still thought the card was full. I tried to reformat and it still reported the error.
First, try a factory reset on the camera just to be sure it's not something that easy to fix. Also, format any SD cards first in your PC and then format them in the camera if it will allow it.
If that doesn't work make sure the pins inside the card slot are not dirty or damaged. You'll need a strong light and maybe some magnifying glasses. Try blowing a burst of canned air inside but make sure you're holding the can level so you don't spray the propellent.

After only 15 days mine did the same thing. I called the dealer Olympus and they gave me a RAN number and told me where to send it. I got a call about a week later. They said because the camera had moisture inside I was not coverd. The best they would do is mail me a rebate card for 25 dollars off my next purchase. I was like WTF. The woman said sorry but that was all they could do. When I asked to speak to manager she hung up.

SOURCE: my olympus stylus tough 6020
Here is what I found on my Stylus 6020. I have the same problem. In the card reader, there are about 9 fine wire contacts sticking up that brush against the SD card when inserted. By shinning light into the empty SD slot, I found two contacts in the middle are either pushed all the way down or have broken off thus causing a card read error. Only 7 or the nine contacts are touching the SD Card. I do not have a solution for this problem other than warranty. This camera is fairly new and has incurred no damage.
