Blade can be had at any hardware store or home improvement store. There are a lot of wood cutting blades available depending on the hardness of the wood and how thick the material is

SOURCE: I bought a used black & decker jigsaw no. 7548

several methods 1) turn collar near top of blade. spring return. same in reverse to insert. 2)Older type may have spindle screw which draws up collets to clamp blade. access to screw may be through body directly over blade shaft. thats all for now.
cheers

SOURCE: I do not know to use the black and decker jigsaw.

Draw the circle pattern on the wood where you need it. Drill a 1/2 or 3/8 inch hole inside the circle, near the circle line. Insert the jigsaw blade into the hole and start cutting, following the line.

If you have the scrolling feature on your saw, don't use it, lock the scroll.

I have a black and decker jigsaw that the plate you put on the wood moves and the cut angled and I do not it to?

Hi John:
These saws are usually really reliable, and SOLID.
I'd suggest that you UNPLUG THE SAW and then explore a bit. Look for loose bolts at the pivot points, or possibly a poorly fitted bolt. If this is your saw that you have had for some time, you should know what maintenance has been done that possibly caused this problem.

When cutting straight with my jigsaw the blade floats even though it is in the lock position

There is a speed and angle ratio that must be observed . Depending on the density of the material and the thickness. The shoe plate can be raised or lowered to assist with the forenamed floating condition. Proper blade selection and sharpness is essential.

I need to use my late husband's jigsaw but can't get the old, bent blade out. How do I do it and which blade do I replace it with? I need to cut a few cms off the width of a kitchen worktop. I...

Hi Jen,

It depends on whether you have an older or newer model jigsaw. Bosch makes the newer ones with a button you push that will release the blade.
On an older jigsaw, look at the handle from above the jigsaw directly in line with the blade. You should see a screw in the top of the handle. Use a screwdriver and loosen this screw, don't remove it, and when the screw is loose enough, you'll be able to pull the blade out. When you put the new one in, slide it in the slot until it seats.

A rule of thumb is to use the blade with the wider gap and larger teeth on wood, the smaller teeth on metal. Most blades will say bimetal on the metal cutting blades.
Now, the courser the teeth the rougher cut you'll get. So, if you want a nice cut, don't use the blade with the largest teeth. Move down to the next largest.

I don't have a Bosch, so am not sure which codes are for which blades, but you can't go wrong if you go by the size of the teeth.

You didn't say what material the worktop is made of. If it's wood, the second largest toothed blade should be fine.

If you've never used a jigsaw before, I could suggest a couple tips that would help you get a nice job done.
First, put a piece of painters tape or masking tape over where you will cut, draw your line and go easy. The tape will keep the blade from giving you a roughed up top edge.
When you get near the end of the cut, hold a piece of scrap wood flat against the back edge to prevent tearout.
Also, let the saw do the work, don't push it.

Hope this helps, If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up, Thanks,

How do you put a new blade into a Black & Decker JS4000 Type 1 jigsaw

There is a black plastic switch where the blade is slid into the jigsaw. The black plastic switch can be seen and accessed from the front of the jigsaw through the clear plastic sight guide...You pull the black switch toward the bottom of the jigsaw and it opens the space for the blade to slide into, when you release the switch it will close the space and lock the blade into place.

Hope this helps.

Blade misalignment

The 1590, like several Bosch jigsaws, has a selector switch to choose the type of cutting action. You have to choose the appropriate cutting action, either straight or oscillating, to accommodate the material you cut and the blade you cut with. For instance, if using a very slender blade for clean curved cuts in wood, a slight oscillating motion ( setting II or III) reduces friction on the blade.
If you choose the straight cutting action you get maximum accuracy, but drastically increase the friction because the blade is held firmly to the roller bearing.  A slender blade can handle that for brief periods, (say... less than thirty seconds) in soft, thin wood with a straight cut. In hard woods or engineered wood products ( plywood, MDF etc.) the thin blade will heat up and bend.
You can reduce friction by choosing an oscillating cutting motion, or you can use a larger, sturdier blade. The "Aggressor" blades do not cut as smoothly as the "clean" blades, but they cut faster and are stronger. To cut thick wood ( 4x4 ) or a long cut in engineered material, that is the blade I use. Select number III or number II for 'type-of-cut' and use a bigger blade. See if that stops the "bucking."
Good luck!
