Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

HP pavilion a1130n won't boot. It has power, when I turn it on everything lights up the disk drives open and close the HDD vibrates slightly and the fans are spinning but I get nothing. Tried new monitor and reseating memory. Also tried replacing battery for bios. Computer worked fine but would act funny if had to be restarted. When I turn it on the fans spin louder and apparently faster than normal. Even tried to replace HDD with ide instead of data but still nothing. Please help unreplaceable data on drive.

SOURCE: HP Pavilion dv6636nr boot problem

When we talk about laptop won't boot up it is a hardware failure.

First of all, most of the hardware failures that are going to be presented in this article require you to disassemble the laptop and work on its internal components. Because of this, you need the required components to take the laptop apart (such as screwdrivers, etc.) and space, lots of space. If you don't have a workbench, then working on that large table in the living room should do it.

Second of all, you need to be extra careful about ESD (electrostatic discharge). Sure, this is important when working with a desktop system too, but you really shouldn't consider this as some sort of overreaction or waste of time. A few anti-static conductive bags should suffice. These are going to be useful when you take apart components from the laptop and you need a safe place to put them down.

If the laptop does not power on using the batteries, then try to power it using the AC adapter. Pay attention and see whether the LED on the laptop lights up, signaling that the adapter was detected. If yes, then your power jack works. If the notebook still does not power on, disassemble the laptop and remove the batteries. Look first for the CMOS battery and take it out.

Your best bet is that the problem is memory-related. What you need to do is re-seat the memory modules. If there are more than one, then try swapping them between each other and try different slots. Try booting again. If it does not work, then try running with only one module - this way, you can tell whether one is faulty.

Disassemble the laptop and remove the HDD, CD/DVD drives, and the modem and/or wireless card(s). If possible, take out the sound card module (if separate). To minimize the possible causes, you may disconnect the LCD panel as well. Try running this way. If it does boot, then try connecting each connector one at a time, booting up in between to localize the problem.

Good luck and take time to do a hard troubleshooting this trouble is not easy as well. You need to be care full in removing the some parts so that the other will not affected and being damaged.

Hi,

I would need some more explanation on this kind of issue.

It seems u have performed most of the steps to isolate the cause of the issue.

are you getting BIOS ???

if not...I guess there has to be something with the motherbaord.. then u need to check the follwoing recall program from HP. if ur laptop is in that then u can get the discount in repair otherwise u need to really concern the local tech to replace the MB.

From your description you have a motherboard issue, the only way to rectify this, it must be replaced.

HP Pavilion a1410n Disk Boot failure

After pressing F1 confirm that the master drive is listed in the boot setup program.. If the drive is not listed confirm that the electrical connection from the new power supply is correctly connected to the drive. Failing to correctly connect the hard drive during power supply replacements is most likely the problem. Also confirm the SATA connections to the drive.

Confirm that the drive gets warm and a slight vibration when power is first turned on confirming the disc drive is spinning.

Hope this helps?

Where is the hard drive on the hp pavilion 6000

Turn the laptop over, there is a bay, my HP has two bays for HDDs, there are two small screws to remove to open the bay. Look closely, in a bright light, for a HDD icon and two small screws holding the bay door, remember your HDD is small 2.5.

My hp a1130n won't play dvds...i think my buddy uninstalled the driver, but i can't seem to reinstall it from hp's website. any suggestion?

Possible that this was unistalled and so you can try to RESTORE the PC to an earlier set point. Open the ccontrol panel and the ICON back up/Restore. If this wont solve then you must try to download the drivers and reinstall. Check the device manager and reinstall .

Operating system is .............

power on the computer, immediatly tap f8 until you get to the boot menu. Choose "last known good configuration". If this fails, your master boot record is corrupt.Boot into safemode, copy all of your data to an external hard drive, then reload your operating system from the secondary partition on your hard drive or insert your OS restore disk and follow the directions.

New HDD inserted into Pavilion ZD7000 - will not boot from XP CD

Try your old HDD in it and see if that works. If it does work then nothing is damaged except your DVD drive/Controller. Try putting the new HDD in another computer, installing windows then putting it back in the HP. If all else fails then flash the bios with an updated image and see if that rectifies the problem.

HP Pavilion DV1000 doesnt start up.

The unit is not finding any boot drives and is trying to boot from a network.

Make sure no disks are in a floppy or cd drive, and if so, remove and try to reboot.

You may have a dead or troubled hard drive.
