Question about Televison & Video

I have a Sky 63" Plasma TV, must be a Hitachi. I recently mounted it and now it randomly sitches off and takes a while before powering on again. What could it be?

If it power ON after some time [after a pause]; and do there after well, the fault is with its main power supply board; a loose solder terminal at it or so. If it does not switch ON and work there after, the fault is with any sustain board short. To troubleshoot this, you should sophisticated test equipment, and its circuit diagram. Main power supply board fault. Loose solder terminals or faulty/leaky transistors or capacitors. Contact the authorized service centre.

Perhaps it's getting hot .too close to the wall.

Testimonial: "Is that a common thing? It could be that because before that it was not too close to the wall and also half of it had direct airflow. I will try to create space."

There's a manual push-button power switch approximately underneath the power button's location on the front bezel. Look at the bottom of the TV or feel around for it. It took me quite a while to find, even after looking through the manual!

In the video setting go down to reset. You will only need minor adjustment after a reset.

SOURCE: hitachi 42 inch plasma tv shuts off by it self

This is not really a solution, but read on... I had these symptoms in my 42 inch Hitachi plasma also. When I took it in to get it looked at , I was told that dust was accumulating on and around the cooling fans.He gave it a quick cleaning ( vacuuming I assume) and it worked for a while then started malfunctioning again. Now I'm trying to decide whether to just pitch it or keep cleaning it myself.Hope this helps.

If you search on Ebay for your TV's exact model number, sometimes you can find a replacement stand for it there from someone who has their TV mounted to the wall and is no longer using it. These are normally fairly heavy and bulky items, so Ebay purchase prices and shipping costs can vary widely.

I did not see any for your exact model of TV available there when I looked, but the online selection changes daily, so you can always keep checking back. Just search on Ebay for 'HITACHI TV STAND' or 'HITACHI TV BASE' and you will see a wide variety of them available for different Hitachi TV models as well as what the average price for them is.
Otherwise you can just buy a generic wall mount floor stand for around $100 which bolts to the TV like a wall mount, but actually sits on the floor instead of being bolted to the wall.

Here are some links to a few different models currently available on Ebay which include pictures so you can see what I mean:

55HT79 HITACHI BLUE POWER LIGHT BLINKS ON AND OFF.

I can't help you because after 26 months of ownership mine is doing the same thing (started on 7-12-09). Judging by the number of people with the same complaint I believe Hitachi knows that they have bad boards but refuses to replace them for customers unless they are within warranty. It also explains why the merchant that sold it to me in 2007 stopped offering Hitachi in 2008.

I'm disgusted because I'm anticipating a $300-$500 repair bill simply because Hitachi's design did not provide an external way of resetting it. Impossible to get to the menu to do a reset within 12 seconds before it starts the powering on booting cycle again.

Adding salt to the injury, mine is wall mounted and repair people will only work on it if it is readily accessilble when they walk in the door or if it is brought to the shop. Know what a 55" plasma TV weighs? Too much.

    - SKY REMOTE CODES

I own a One-for-All universal remote (model URC-4220), and my booklet says the setup code for a Hitachi TV is either 0000 or 0145. If these numbers do not work, then I would buy a newer universal remote. They can purchased at Walmart for less than 10 dollars.
