If it's YOUR router, then you ought to remember how to log into it. If you lost the password, then you need to start reading how to reset it.

Try accessing the routers address in internet explorer and looking for the network key in the wireless security settings. Linksys uses: 192.168.1.1

Do a google search for belkins router address

Or try using the reset button on the back of the router to reset the security settings.

Hope this helps

Lost my passcode key and linksys wants to charge me $40 to retrieve it. Is there another way?

To get your passcode for your wireless network, you need to have a computer/laptop hardwired to the routed for the meantime to access the setup page. When one of your computer is wired to the router, please follow these steps.

1. Open a browser (IE, Firefox, etc.) and on the address bar type in 192.168.1.1
2. A window will appear that will ask for a Username and Password. On the Username leave it blank. On the Password type admin.
3. You will see the setup page of the route. Click on the Wireless tab.
4. Below the Wireless tab, click on the Wireless Security sub tab. Then you will see the wireless passcode of your Linksys router.

I need to know how to find out my WPA2 passcode

The WEP, WPA, WPA2 encryption key is in your router's wireless settings. Log into your router and got to the wireless settings, you will need to get the SSID and the encryption key. Then go to your computer/laptop's wireless card and configure it with the router's SSID and encryption key, so it will then connect to the wireless router and the Internet.

To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

My router is 2 years old and yesterday, i started to get the message saying i am not connected to the network. Does that mean the router is no longer working ?

What is giving you thisw message? If it is on a laptop, accessing router wirelessly, then (on the laptop) go into Network Settings and verify that your computer is set up to use a Private network, as Public networks may not let you see other computers on the network. If it is set to Private, then your router may have stopped working. Try resetting the router by sticking a paper clip into the Reset hole, which resets the router to Factory Settings. Go ahead and connect to the router with a CAT-5 cable and use IE to go go to http://192.168.1.1 and complete setting (simplified) as follows:
In Wireless Section, Choose your SSID (Network Name), set security in the section below that by choosing security method and passcode. This passcode MUST be used by all users to access thev wireless signal. Let me know ( [email protected] ) if this does not help.

I used set up disk, set up SSID and added Key but laptop won't access SSID/router.

In order to access ther router wirelessly, you must first connect via cable to router. Using IE, go to http://192.168.1.1 and look in the Wireless section. Set the Network Name (SSID) you want - it can be almost anything you want - and after that you can choose what sort of Security you want to use, and set up your access passcode. Once this is all done, and access to Wireless is verified (using the passcode to access the SSID you chose) disconnect the cable. You now have control of router wirelessly.

Need to secure wireless connection

1. Connect the computer to your Wireless router then using the internet explorer access the router gui 192.168.1.1abd7975.jpg 2. It is extremely important that you change the password for your router. Select a strong password using numbers and letters. This is the password that you will use to login and configure your router after this initial setup. 61e656e.jpg+
79ee205.jpg 3. Select a unique name for your wireless network. The name of your network is known as the SSID. This is what wireless users will use to identify which router and network they connect to. 94c0abe.jpg

I am trying to set up another computer but cannot connect even though it shows the network available. How do I secure the wireless network?

Is this router set up with any security on the wireless? With a wired connection to the router, log in to http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 as needed to access your router. Once you are logged in, go to the Wireless section (the SSID, or name, of your network) and, if you have not already, set up Security. I prefer using WEP-PSK[TKIP] for its ease of use. You will need to use the new passcode to log on to your router from wireless computers. Anyone that does not know the passcode will be denied access to it.

That's very easy because wireless lan obtain & detected network available on the area.
Hope this idea can help to you.

Passcode forgotten

the passcode it's asking is the wireless security that was setup on your router. it could be a wep or wpa.
in order to get it, you need to access the setup page of your router. for most routers, all you need to is open a web browser and enter the router's ip address.
i can't provide the exact steps since i don't know the exact model of your router.
you can try to ask the person who manages your router for the wireless key.

hope this'll help you but if not, provide me the exact brand and model of your router

ciao!

Laptop wont detect Router

Assuming your laptop and router are wireless, make sure you enter your security passcode for the network correctly. A mistake on the passcode will prevent you from connecting.

Also, try to reach the router's configuration from a wired connection. Once you do so, make sure you don't have the router set to deny access to unknown computers (that is, make sure any kind of "access list" is turned off).
