Background information:

Check to see if you have power at the switch, if there is power there check at the heater. If there is power at the heater, check the controller. If there is power at the controller and after it (at the element. You have a bad element. Normally if the element is bad you are better off replacing the whole heater as the tank may be ready to fail because of corrosion from bad water. You can replace the element and save money, but my advice is to replace the water heater. I hope this helps.

If you locate and procure a switch, you can more than likely replace it yourself. Get a switch of like and you can see what you have to deal with, Always disconnect the electricity before you work on it Good Luck.
