First thing to do is remove all cables and charts from the machine except the power cable. Try powering on and see what happens. If the same issue occurs it sounds like a boot code failure has occurred. Unfortunately, if that is the case those machines are no longer supported by Simrad and I would recommend looking around ebay or craigslist for another.

I hope by my wife, the pins were not long enough to reach the sockets in the connecting plug. So I inserted a very fine spring into the sockets, reassembled the connecting plug, somewhat crunchily and it's working. The fine spring was robbed from my wifes jewellry making kit, stuff called "Tiger Tail" and used for re-inforcing necklace ends and suchlike girlie stuff. I claim no credit at all for this repair, it has had me stumped for seven years at least it was all down to my wife. Ok I'll stop grovelling now.
