I had the same problem with dripping and flooding to the fridge and floor; after repeatedly defrosting, I resorted to keeping two pitchers below the vent from the freezer where the drips occur. This worked for a few years, and then the fridge stopped working altogether, no drips and no cold air in fridge. Now after leaving off for several days, to ensure no lodged ice in the way, the freezer is frozen and the fridge warm. This was purchased in 06, so it's ridiculous that it is broken. Since I have no fridge experience, I'm wondering if it's worth calling someone to fix, or should just buy a new one?
Your defrost timer seems to be bad. Find it at the bottom of the fridge and turn the knob to see if it activates. If it does then it is bad. If it doesn't activate then your element or thermosat is bad. These parts are not to expensive and you can do it yourself and save some big bucks. Be safe and disconnect power before servicing.
