It sounds like you connected to the conductor (wire) that controls the actuator that locks out shifting the transmission which is then disabled when you actuate the brake.

Please provide the model of the car and video system; I may be able to get an electrical schematic and trace out the signals.

    Hi Ted,

The Pyle unit is just the camera; it is probably working fine; what do you have controlling the monitor? Is it connected in any way to a signal from the reverse shifter or brake?

Kia Rio 2005 manual, the gear will get stuck and car shakes and stalls on its own when I come to a stop, foot on clutch and brake, in reverse and first gear.

what would happen if you put it in first gear, put your foot on the clutch then try to start the car....of course pick a place where safe!!!...if it rolls forward while cranking ,the clutch plate is touching the flywheel (in other words the clutch all the way down while in gear while cranking, should NOT touch the flywheel(transmission part that makes the car move) so if it moves then it shows the transmission reacts to the clutch touching the other jiggamathig. Possibly clutch system needs bleeding (air in the hydraulic system). I'm sure your car has this thing called a "clutch slave cylinder". Now,this is one thing I would check first.

Have put on a reversing camera and it work a treat. Only problem is that as soon as I start to move backward the pitcher disappears. Is there something that can be put into place so that it stays on??

you can not view a screen while your driving its against the law. there is a wire that is connected to your shifter that tells the monitor to turn off and on. find that wire and ground it and the montor will stay on all the time. why would you want a rear camera on all the time anyway?

My pioneer double din screen says ''Caution, screen image may appear reversed''...how can i solve this problem?

Hi,

As you know, you can use this DVD AV Receiver with a rear view camera. And also it can be installed to switch automatically from the video to rear view image when the gear shift of the car is moved to Reverse position.

But it is important to use a camera which outputs mirror reversed images.
Otherwise the screen image may appear reversed. And this means that you will see the rear view reversed in the monitor. And that may cause accicent and injury.

To solve this problem, first check your rear camera whether it has the capability to output mirror reversed images.

If it is, then check the wire connections of the rear camera using the operation manual or ask a technician.

Also check the settings of camera polarity if it is set properly or not in the system menu when connecting the rear view camera.

You can download the operation manual (pdf file) by clicking here.

I hope this helps.

All the best.

What does the green/white wire connect to on my jensen vm9312hd? Says it is reverse +

Rear View Camera Input: The VM9313 features a composite video input and a green/white wire lead attached to the harness for connection of a rear view camera. If a rear-view video camera is connected, the unit is on, and the TFT monitor is retracted inside the unit, the TFT monitor automatically moves into the viewing position and Camera modes is selected upon shifting into Reverse gear. When shifting into Drive gear, the TFT monitor is retracted back inside the unit. If the monitor is already in a viewing position and in display mode, the monitor automatically switches to Camera mode upon shifting into Reverse. When the reverse driving stops, the monitor returns to its original input display mode. You can choose for the monitor to display a Mirror mode image or a Normal mode image from the rear-view camera.

Rear view camera

The unit uses a wire from the back of the head unit to connect to the vehicle wire that sends voltage to your reverse lights. If this wire isn't connected or isn't connected correctly, the head unit can't tell when your vehicle goes into reverse. Most installers don't bother with that wire if the unit isn't being installed with a back-up camera.
