Im not sure exactly how it dies whether its a straight up shut down like you turned the key off or if its studdering and dying but heres the deal you need to get a lab scope on your crackshaft position sensor and watch the waveform more than likely if it's shutting off, like with the key, the crank sensor is faulty and stops providing a signal 2000rpm without crankshaft signal you have no injector pulse or ignition so no fuel no spark. If it studders out then it could be a faulty ignition module low fuel pressure restricted or plugged exhaust or intake bad coil packs a bad ground or power to the ignition module or a mass airflow sensor (maf)that is out of calibration (you can eliminate the maf from the list of possibilities by simply unplugging it with the engine off key off then start it with the maf unplugged if the problem is gone bad mass air flow if its still there move on) have fun this one can be an s.o.b.
Have the charging system checked to make sure you are getting 14.25 volts when idle and everything on,blower on high and headlights on .if you are not getting at least 13.60 then replace the alternator, and or out put cable from alternator
