Page 104 of the manual. It's through the Viera link settings. I have a similar TV. It's a little convoluted.

Through Viera link you set sound selection to Home Cinema and it mutes your TV speakers when your external speakers are on. I use that now now with a similar sound box (Zvox). It works fine. That doesn't work with the playbar...

The Audio output from a TV AV output is to low to drive a speaker, so you have to use a External Audio Amplifier to boost the Audio signal to be able to drive a Speaker.

U need to get a digital to analog converter for the tv digital outputs on "tv mode." Connect the analog outputs to the audio input of receiver. I had same hassle with my Viera till I got another receiver that would take direct digital input - no more need for converter.

No. You must have an external amp to drive external speakers. You can get pre-out only by the rear RCA sockets of the TV.

Must go into the tv Menu go to OPTION go down and pick VARIABLE setting for output for extrenal speaker system.It should not setup on Menu OPTION setting on FIX setting,tv will used tv speakers system only.

Does your TV have an Audio out? If it does then you can connect it from there.

I don't expect a 2 channel amp would have a digital input such as optical. More likely you would be able to pull analog stereo (red and white RCAs) off the Panasonic and run to the JVC.
