Question about Audio Players & Recorders

6 Answers

My speakers have stopped working.

I have Advent ADE-210C speakers that have been working fine until now. There is no sound at all through them when plugged into the computer but they work in other things. They do however give off a hum when plugged in and out. I have checked the sound settings on my computer but the speakers didn't have to be installed so they are not listed in devices. They illuminate but there is no sound whatever I try. Could you please suggest anything that might help me as I-tunes will never be the same again!

My Advent ADE-210C speakers are not playing on my computer. I have looked in Device manager but there is no mention of the speakers. They are not installed and never came with any software. I have tried to update the driver but cant find the speaker to do update. Tried everything but they wont play. Also hum when putting it in and out of computer.

I have plugged in external speakers and Vista does not recognize them so ??? I also have internal speakers and they are not working either! So confused and frustrated!!!

Ok, I may have the solution. After I posted here I went back to trying to fix it myself and I did, well, mine anyways. I back to the control panel and went to Hardware/Sounds, clicked on the manage my audio devices again, and then where it said "no audio devices installed", nothing there, I right clicked my mouse and it brought up a little box that said: Show disconnected devices and Show disabled devices, make sure both of these are checked...that was my problem why i kept showing nothing. Then hopefully your spears icon shoud reappear like mine, and you can then click on it, then properties, and ENABLE it...hope this helps, let me know :)

I have had the same problems after installing Service Pack 1 for Vista, if trying the other solutions posted on here still doesn't work then try looking for the driver for your sound card rather than the speakers. Vista should be able to find a driver for the speakers automatically anyway.

If you don't know the model of your sound card, Google: CREATIVE XTREAME AUDIO DRIVER downloading this should do the trick.

I have my speakers plugged in but everytime i want to play a song or a movie this pops up "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly."
WHAT DO I DO?!

You need a sound card to plug in speakers or headphones if that is what you are asking. You can get relatively cheap ones at best buy or online if you are looking for nothing fancy. I don't believe you can get any sound otherwise.

No sound from my speakers

There is some loose connection. If its a sound card, try removing it from the slot, clean the contact ponits and replace. If the sound system has a separate amplifier, just touch the stereojack to see if the speakers produce a humming sound, which means the speaker circuit is OK. Now try twisting the jack to your PC and if there is cracling sound from the speakers then the audio output socket needs to cleaned with pure alcohol to remove any carbon deposits...........sodeep

Advent ADE 210C

There is no easy way to tell you this. The smaller speakers usually plug into the large speaker. The large speaker is the sub and has a power source for the other speakers.
I can't fix this for you, but if I helped you get it fixed, please rate it as a fixya not a helpful rating. These ratings let me be allowed to help you and others in the future.
