It never done this before. I have the car for 8 years just started doing this. Speed control works fine so it is not that. when I push off button everything shuts off but blower motor runs at around 1/3 speed. higher speed than low speed

Turns out the Blower speed control module was the problem. Replaced it and now when unit is off blower is off. A diode in the module caused the problem.

They are designed to run on low all the time. This is to keep the cabin pressurized to avoid dust from the outside getting in while driving. If it is on another speed other than low then maybe the speed control is the culprit.

SOURCE: 2000 lincoln ls heater not working...thermostat?

- If temp guage reads normal, the lack of heat may be due to the Heater Control Valve. Located in front of the radiator. Lower passenger side. A real bugger to replace.
- The plastic cap just over the thermostat is key in re-filling the anti freeze and bleeding air.

SOURCE: heat wont work 2001 lincoln town car cartia

Hello Callahan5922....this sounds like a stuck blower motor resistor. I assume the blower won't function in the a/c mode either? If you have a digital multimeter you can check this. I believe it's fuse #2....if the digital indicator goes up or down when you increase or decrease the fan speed thats good. Locate the blower motor resistor....you wil find it located on the fire wall behind the right valve cover hiding behind the heater hose, it's about the size of a cigarette pack. With the engine off, and key in on position, turn the A/C on High, and rap a tap tap tap on the resistor. You might be suprised when the blower motor takes off a runnin,
I hope this is the answer you need and i was able to help solve this for you. Good luck...

SOURCE: 1995 Lincoln town car blower motor resistor

it's most likely the blower resistor, which is located under the hood on the passengers side in the evaporator case. if you have manual a/c heat control this is a cheap fix, if you have auto temp control it is a very expensive part [around 200.00] good luck

2001 Lincoln town car heater fan runs but changes speed by its self on manual setting

Climate Control Assembly
The electronic automatic temperature control (EATC) module, located in the instrument panel, has the following features:
  • a blower speed override control for manual input
  • a vacuum fluorescent display for displaying set temperature, ambient temperature, function and diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
  • an On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) feature to supply the technician with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). These DTCs direct the technician to the inoperative component.

2000 Lincoln town car. Heater fan is full on at full on position. Any other setting the fan is off. No speed control.

When one or more speeds on your heater/AC aren't functioning, the problem is usually the blower motor resistor. It's usually located near the firewall on the opposite side of the heater core.

Heater Motor Speed Controller location lincoln town car 2000

I would check that the blower motor speed controller under the hood is getting a signal from the climate control. The speed controller will be a lot less expensive and goes more often then the climate control unit in the dash...

zjlimited_1133.jpg

You should really test the signal from the climate control to the blower speed control; if I where to try something I would go with the blower motor speed control... it may be called the blower resistor if you call for the part just make sure it matches up with the one you have on the car.

Good luck.

My heater puts out heat however the blower motor does no run

I am going to assume that you have the Automatic climate control on your car. it gives you an auto fan mode, and temperature options. Often the problem does not lie in the blower motor, but rather, the climate control module. Often, the blower motor only works on Auto fan mode, or on full out. It will often also only operate in certain modes, such as only in defrost mode, or panel. I have had several town cars and Grand Marquies of these era's and have had the same problems with 2 of these cars. The only good solution to the issue is to replace the climate control module, which is the panel with all of the switches for the heater controls. If you're really adventurous or cannot find the replacement part, it may be possible to hard wire the fan to a multi resistance switch, but you really got to know what you're doing.

could be number of things,a dashboard smack almost indicates a loose connection somewhere,if not that its either the blower motor itself going bad or the blower control module
