Whirlpool dryer is a piece of ****

I bought my whirlpool washer and dryer on Sept. 1, 2002 and have had nothing but trouble. It takes at least 3-4 cycles to completely dry a load and then they smell musty. I have had service men out numerous times and even wrote a letter to the Whirlpool Corp. This was no help! I feel like throwing them out of the second story window and buying another brand, but, I spent a fortune on these and feel robbed. They say that because my laundry room is in the center of the house, this is the problem. My neighbor has the same floorplan and has a Kenmore front loading washer and dryer that work great.

Must clean the lint

filter and the exhaust vent tube and all

the way in to the dryer. Hot air exit is

restricted. You may have lint backed up clear into the dryer in the fan box. Clean it all out and it will work for you again!

Whirlpool 6 Sense

I don't have the answer you are looking for but I will tell you I bought a set of Whirlpool Washer & Dryer 9 yrs ago and they were a nightmare. After replacing the boards in both my dryer once and washing machine 2-3 times, I packed them up and got rid of them. If you will start to look you will see all kinds of lawsuits against Whirlpool. Can't believe they are still in business.

Whirlpool dryer panel turns on but won't start dryer, hear click

With a service record like that, I think a call to the Consumer Protection agency is in order. It's obviously a lemon. Or to put it another way, it's unsuited to the task it was designed for.

But here's a tip:
Major household appliances that rely on electronic or "touch" controls are notoriously troublesome - regardless of brand. Not because there's anything wrong with the concept, but because the implementation of the concept is flawed, with the overriding concern being cost. Those electronic control boards are designed right at the margin of reliability to start with, and then they're made in China using the cheapest components available, and produced using unskilled labor. They can be expected to fail early and often.

Fixing it yourself is not a solution because you're still stuck with the same low quality replacement parts as the originals you're replacing.

For your next machines, stick to the ones that use the good old fashioned mechanical timer knobs. They're cheaper to buy too, and not because the mechanical timers are cheaper, but because the electronic models have a (falsely) perceived added "value" to the buyer which artificially pumps the price.

I hate my Whirlpool Cabrio washer- I've had it for almost 4 yrs- digital display board broke at 2 1/2 years and cost $450 to repair. Now I have leak under the washer who knows how much it will be to...

I also hate hate hate my Cabrio washer and dryer. I've been a loyal whirlpool customer for over 25 years with ALL my household big appliances. ThWhirlpool doesn't care about loyalty. I bought this washer and dryer set in Sept. 2010. The clothes don't get clean....the darks have white streaks on them. I have to re-wash about every other load. I washed a pair of jeans and they still had dirt on them when I pulled them out. I called Whirlpool and their response was "What do you want me to do about it?" They said they can't do anything bc the washer is an energy saver.. I will NEVER buy another Whirlpool appliance.

Kitchenaid compactor KUCS03FTSS makes banging sound at end of cycle

I bought a Kitchen Aid trash compactor the end of Sept/2008. By July/2010 I have spent $528 on having it fixed! It only cost $623 new so I called Whirlpool customer satisfaction line where after waiting 15 minutes was told that "With all due respsect mam, Whirlpool owes you nothing" Then " as a courtesy" they offered me 50% off an $80 part that I still need to pay $60 in labor to install! So,that would be an additional $100 on an appliance that has been trouble from the get go...I have had numerous compactors before this brand and have never had any trouble...Do NOT buy anything made by Whirlpool as they have apparently, a NO customer satisfaction policy.

Water in bleach/fabric softne compartment

Purchased the duet washer and dryer sept 2004..have had the same problem with water staying in the compartments. while under warranty had to place 2 service calls..the last tech order a new bleach compartment...that helped for a few months, but back to the same problem with having to pull entire container out and empty..i do remember the tech saying that whirlpool duet was first introduced in germany...then the united states...they have had the same problem...and that whirlpool is awhere of it, but nothing can be done about...except keep emptying compartment when it fills with water...our neighbor bought a duet washer last fall...no problems like we are having..whirlpool must of solved that issue with the newer versions.... paying $1000.00 for a washer and having to empty the compartment everytime doesn't make sense to me.
