Vizio M550sv how to fix vertical flashing lines. I've repaired tvs before but there is not much info on the web for this particular model. Parts seem to be more expensive then my last fix and i want to get a better idea of what is wrong before i throw money at it.

Line, faults & possible causes to LCD screen are given with illustrations. You can get an idea about the fault to an extent.

first make sure its not an input problem or from an external source.Disconnect all inputs and see if lines are present with no inputs to tv.if lines affect menu and or ON SCREEN DISPAY (top) there is a good chance (SSB) board could be bad .I would start with this board first ,lvds cable (second) and last the logic board (comes only with new LCD)

If the line is horizontal then it could be a y-drive panel ( depending on from ctr where it is ) whether it is the upper or lower board. Time to let a service company look at it, don't wait, more damage is possible the longer you play it.If it goes vertical ( up & down ) then it could be one of two buffer boards.

Go to your T.V. menu and make sure you don't have a sleep timer set. If you don't then it could be an internal problem with the T.V.

Call VIZIO Support 1-877-698-4946 and discuss the issue. Their sets are run by software "firmware" and it may not have updated proberly when you bought the set. I have had the same problem and it went away after a firmware update. VIZIO will ask you to run a :power discharge" scenario which means you Completely Unplug the unit and PRESS the Power Button on the Back of the Set...HOLDING IT DOWN FOR 3 MINUTES. However, thay may not resolved the issue unitl the firmware is completly updated. This takes a while.
