No sound at all

1) Go to: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices > Audio tab 2) Check what's under "Sound playback: Default device" and "Sound recording: Default device". It these fields are grey and non-clickable, then most probably the audio card driver is missing or less probably the audio card itself is broken. 3A) If you have an original CD of your computer, motherboard, or audio card, insert the CD and install the driver from it. 3B) Or alternatively insert the CD and go to: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > System > Hardware > Device Manager, find any unidentified device in the list, or expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" branch, identify the Audio card > Right click > Update driver... > Install the software automatically > Next 3C) Or alternatively download and install a free driver updater software, e.g. - let it scan and update all your missing drivers. P.S. These steps mentioned above are for Windows XP, but will be quite similar on other Windows versions, too.
If you tell me your laptop's model name, I could find its website where you can download audio drivers. For example if you have HP laptop, go to and enter your laptop's model number and look for driver downloads offered.

NO SOUND ON MY DELL INSPIRON 6400 Laptop with IDT High Def Audio

Apart from the obvious things like making sure the volume isn't muted both in windows and physically on the system (if it has a hardware volume control) it is possible that the driver for your audio card may need to be updated. You should go to Control Panel and then Device Manager, click on audio and see if there is any yellow circles with exclamation marks in it. If so, this is an indication that you are missing the audio drivers for your sound card. To fix this, the first option and easiest will be to run microsoft update. When doing this, make sure you choose all updates, even optional ones, as this includes hardware updates. If this does not work, go to the dell website directly and punch in your service tag number to find the proper audio driver and install it on your system.

Good Luck,

When i reinstall my window it seem that the sound went missing

You can try going to IBM's site and downloading multiple sound card drivers for other models within 2 years of yours. They miss and match devices alot like Dell and HP does. Extract the drivers in seperate folders on your desktop and point the browse to one folder at a time until you kind the correct driver. I believe IBM will take your call free for issues like these even out of warrenty period.

Toshiba Satellite L25-S119 Win 7 Audio

Sorry, your sound card driver for windows 7 is not release by tosiba company.Even if they have release driver for Windows Vista too.It might have work.

So you won't be able to play audio sound on your laptop using windows 7.Either you need to downgrade to Windows XP or windows 2000 or you may get a new USB external sound card which support windows 7.

Video, sound and game control drivers A55-S106...

Hey there.

Sound is an issue a lot of the time, and even on the manufactures website sometimes their sound driver for that particular model still doesn't work, or sometimes can even be out of date *Cough Compaq Cough*

First off, here are a few things you can do..

Youcan check if you are missing drivers by going to Start>(RightClick)My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager. If yousee any drivers that are yellow or with a ! those are the drivers youneed to find, download and install.

Windows Updates ~ When you go to Windows Update, do not "Express"update, rather "Custom" - Once it has loaded the screen, on the lefthand side you will see hardware. Download the hardware drivers there. They work 98% of the time, and Windows Update is pretty good now daysso it might fix your problem easy.

If not, search and look and download them manually, or thefree program I use to get information on them, and for the program toidentify what driver your missing, and give you the information to lookfor it on the manufactures website, is DriverMaX

If after these steps, nodrivers needed updating, and nothing was needed to be installed, pleasedo clarify it & with detail and I will assist you further otherwiseit should fix your problem. That's what I've helped other people with, and it's worked. Even just today I had issues with a clients PC and it was difficult to find the right driver, but I managed too.

So, after all that... if nothing, please tell me the model/name of the Sound Card and the model of your machine, and I will try to find it for you.

I know.. it's annoying, and time consuming, but it can be done and once you've got it out of the way you are away laughing!

I hope I have been of some assistance!

Good Luck!
