It sounds like it thinks the key is still in it all the time. Try turning the key forward to the on position, but not running, so the dinging stops. disconnect the battery. Remove the key completely and reconnect the battery.

Lower vehicle and perform camshaft and
crankshaft timing relearn procedure as follows:
² Connect the DRB scan tool to the data link
(diagnostic) connector. This connector is located in
the passenger compartment; at the lower edge of
instrument panel; near the steering column.
² Turn the ignition switch on and access the “miscellaneous”
screen.
² Select “re-learn cam/crank” option and follow
directions on DRB screen

Most people don't have access to this scanner <but it must be done> I used a snap-on cost 3000 but have the reset feature

Thanks you all for your help.

SOURCE: 98 Dodge Durango no electrical power

When the armed Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) senses that the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, it enters its power-up mode. In the power-up mode the alarm system remains armed following a battery failure or disconnect. If the VTSS was armed prior to a battery disconnect or failure, the system will have to be actively or passively disarmed after the battery is reconnected. The alarm can be disarmed by locking the vehicle and turning the drivers door lock to the lock (arm) position. Wait a few minutes then unlock (disarm) the drivers door and the vehicle should start.
If the VTSS has been disabled in the high-line Central Timer Module (CTM), the VTSS feature must be re-enabled using the Chrysler DRB scan tool. The clicking you heard was probably from the CTM located behind the glove box.

When I start the van all the dials go all the way up then come down the radio will not work the locks will not work unless the van is running now the back hatch will not open

Sounds like the battery cable terminals need to be removed and cleaned. Most often the ground side is corroded. Use sandpaper to make everything shiny then reconnect. Do both while you have everything available.

Changed battery terminals cause van wouldn't start now starts and dinging bell wont stop unless warning light fuse is removed. What to do?

  • Is light switch off and key removed and in "off" position.Worn ignition key switch due to much weight on keyring may damage switch, allowing key to be removed when switch not fully in "off" position.

2003 dodge ram, wont start, red flashing light on dash?

My 2003 dodge diesel truck would loose all power while driving. I did have bad ground battery cables, thought it might be that changed them. Still did it. If my truck sat in the winter to long the batteries would go bad. Change them. Nothing. Changed to switch in the column still nothing. Next to the fuse box under the hood is a little positive terminal cap (it feeds power to the fuse box) I removed it to expose the screw. Then I followed the wire , it went straight to the positive battery cable terminal (it's molded into the terminal) I took a volt reading from the negative terminal to the positive bolt under the cap by the fuse box and took a reading (8 volts should be 12+) I took a jumper wire from the positive terminal of battery to the bolt under the cap and pow lights. I also noticed that the positive terminal would get hot before where the wire is molded into the lead must have a bad connection So I temporarily drove a screw right where the wire goes into the lead and problem temperately (probably just leave it) fixed. I'm so happy I hope this helps someone it took me a long time to fix this.

The lights and will come on and the ding, ding from the key being in the ignition too but the car wont start dont even make a sound when i turn the key

Check for loose or corroded battery terminals. If thats OK, there may be a problem with the starter itself.
