SOURCE: raising bobbin thread
These machines are timed by belt and go out of time a lot. Check and see that when the needle passes through the plate and travels upward 1/8" at this point the rotating hook should be right behind and above the eye in the needle,my guess is that it is out probably 1 tooth on the timing belt and can usually be corrected by removing the bobbin case and holding the rotating hookk with on ehand and forcing the handwheel with the other hand which will cause the belt to jump a cog and should put your machine back in time I hope this helps

I had a Golden Touch 'N Sew many years ago and as the machine aged and parts became worn, step 4 of this bobbin winding diagram started to become a problem and I had to sometimes try several times before the "tabs" would release. If they did not release, the machine "thought" it was still winding the bobbin and would not sew.

SOURCE: can't pick up bobbin thread
Unfortunatlly if it will not pick up thread, it is possibly out of time. But before you go changing the timing, make certain it is threaded correctly, the bobbin is threaded correctly. If they are all good see my tip on time a sewing machine.

Place thread spool on right hand lever top of matching. Place disc at end of thread spool to keep from flying off. Guide thread to left and insert into thread holder left top of machine. Pull thread toward you and catch in groove (between stitch length and stitch type selectors). Turn thread upward (like letter U) into groove on other side of stitch length selector then slightly left into final groove (where name plate Singer Seduction us) and down to thread need.
